Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I recently read a great conversation from 10 months ago about bronchiectasis and the best lung specialists around the UK that you would recommend. My father has been suffering for 2 years and has multiple infections that he doesn’t seem to recover from easily at all. He hasn’t been referred by the gp since diagnosis. We live near Birmingham but happy to travel anywhere for some help. Would you be able to let me know specialists you have experienced are good?
Can’t thank you enough for your help in advance.

Sorry to hear about your Dad’s health isssues. I have no experience of proactive consultants in your particular area and someone may come along soon who has. We are not allowed to put names of docs on site but I will put up a link from Heartlands. There is a cf unit there and there is also a list of respiratory consultants. You might want to look individually online at all the docs listed to make sure they have a special interest in cf or non cf bronchiectasis. Once you and your Dad have decided who they wish to be referred to then you can request this from your GP
Sorry if that didn’t work. To get to the page I am referring to try this link and scroll down and click on Respiratory Medicine and you should then get the page referred to:
The only one I can recommend is in Nottingham. She specializes in Cystic Fibrosis, so is an expert in Bronchiectasis. But I fea Nottingham may be too far for your dad to travel. I'll message you her name and hospital, in case you think otherwise.
I also have Bronchiectasis, Emphasemia, and Asthma I see a female consultant at heartlands hospital. The respiratory unit outpatients is together with the CF unit clinics are held there ward 26. There are a number of Consultants on the unit, some work at other hospitals as well as heartlands Good Hope The QE and Solihull.
There is a bronchiecstasis specialist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. I also have bronchiecstasis, amongst other things, but haven’t seen her, but I have heard good things of her from patients in the waiting room of the lung department!
