Can you take cystic fibrosis as an adult

I think you can have it and not be diagnosed until adulthood ,Im sure I have read a thread on this x

you are born with it, both parents must be carriers, some are only born with the gene where others have the disease an a small minority escape and get neither. There are tests now to tell if you have the gene or not, so before you decide to have children if it is anywhere in your history be sure you both do the testing just to be sure

Yes. there are around 2000 different mutations so it is possible to be diagnosed with it as an adult

Goodness me that must have been a shock..On a positive note the CF unit in my area has psychologists and support workers and a huge team of people ...You should be able to get lots of information and support from your Cf unit
