My name is Justin or JW. I'm 26yrs. I am married to an amazing woman. And we're expecting our first baby, a little boy named Phoenix. He's gonna be born with clubbed feet. My wife suffers from seizures. I myself was born with muscular dystrophy. Which mainly affects my arms and legs. And has recently began to attack the muscles in my heart. I also have a heart condition called pots. And I've gone into cardiac arrest once. Do to the muscular dystrophy I've also suffered many injuries. Both in my neck and back, as well as all my limbs. I has a bone disorder passed on to me from my dad called degenerative joint disorder. And I suffered from seizures for almost 9 years. They stopped 2 years ago. I have asthma and in 2009 I almost died from a double pneumonia. My mother had muscular dystrophy, asthma, bipolar disorder, and died when I was 16 of lung and ovarian cancer. My father has DJD, asthma, bipolar disorder, and hypertension. I also suffer from a couple stomach problems. It's a rough life. But luckily I have the best woman in the world who stands by my side. Even though I believe that she deserves better than a man who can't work, is always in pain, and is often sick. Not to mention the medical bills that have drained our credit. I just hope the only thing baby Phoenix has to deal with is, clubbed feet. I hope he doesn't get any of my health problems. I'll feel like shit it I've done anything like pass on these conditions and disorders. He should never have to go through his life in this much pain. I just want my baby Phoenix to be happy and healthy.

Good morning Justin - it says an awful lot about you that you have had the courage to cope with everything that has been thrown at you. You have true grit,  and so heartbreaking losing your Mum at such an early age.  I hope your Dad is close at hand and is able to be of some help to you.. You have found happiness with a beautiful and understanding woman, also suffering her own physical problems.  Do not worry about your baby boy being born with clubbed feet.  This is a treatable condition as your own doctors will have told you, will be helped from day one, and won't stop him from having a normal healthy life like other children.  He is going to be born a very much loved and wanted baby.  I was born with a mild form, and had to wear Start Right shoes that were built up on the inside to stop my feet turning in until I was about 8. It must have been a struggle for my parents to afford them, it was a long time ago and there were 5 of us.  I excelled at sport from the day I started school. I also had a huge gap between my two front teeth and had to have a large amount of skin cut away to enable my teeth to grow properly. My little problems pale in the light of what you must be going through every day.  Apparently these thing are related to clubbed feet. My cousin was born with two clubbed feet and he wore callipers for a long time..he eventually became a brilliant footballer. Take heart - you have done nothing wrong - your baby is going to live a wonderful life in yours, your Dad's and your wife's love.

From your letter I believe you are in America.  I have an NHS link here, but you probably have been through all this before and know exactly what to expect, but anyway I'll give you the link.  Everything will be ok  :-)

Thank you very much ma'am! Sadly I live with my dad. But he isn't really there for me. He kinda only cares about himself and my aunt, and his mom. Despite the fact that it annoys my wife because she hates seeing me in more pain, and hates when I'm sad and don't feel like anyone but her cares about me. My aunt has a small murmur with her heart, and spider veins. That's all that's wrong with her. And I have a greedy grandma who only cares about money and what you can do for her. My point of this is. I live a life of chronic pain where some days I literally take 2-3 hrs to get outta bed. And I've come close to dying many times because of my heart. I just recently fainted and split my head open, and needs 8 staples. All this going on with me. My wife being pregnant. And my father guilts me into doing all kinds of heavy lifting type of work, and other manual labor type work for him at my aunt's and grandma's house. As well as my own. The stuff I do to help them when I'm already feeling bad, often causes my heart rate and blood pressure to spike. As well as puts me into more pain. I do it because he's my dad. But I try to stop because I have my own family to live for. But that still doesn't stop the guilt trips. Like I said, without my wife, I don't know how I got along in life for as long as I did. I don't believe in god, and she's a Christian who still loves me for me. Never tries to force her beliefs on me. Funny thing is, we were little kids, we absolutely hated each other. She was my bully. 12 yrs later, we finally became friends. And 6 yrs after that we started dating. And I married her 6 months later. Lol. I may be an atheist. But I truly believe that this woman is my angel. And baby Phoenix is my miracle. The only other person who I know truly loved me as much (well probably more because of who she was) was my mom. But with all my health problems. I'm actually glad I have them for only one reason. They made me the man I am today. And I know clubbed feet are treatable. I just hope that he doesn't have any of my other health issues. I don't want him growing up in pain like I had to. But I appreciate your kind words. And your help. But I'd like to know what gave me away as being American? Lol if it helps, I don't wanna be if Donald Trump becomes president. If that happens, I wanna be Canadian. Lol but my Canadian friends tell me they're kinda racist against native Americans. But I'm only half so they should only half a problem with me half the time. I hope you have a very nice day ma'am. :-)

Thankyou Justin.

heh heh...it could be the use of "ma'am" or it could be the use of "kinda" :-)

I wish you and your wife the very best of everything.

Morning Justin,  I can't begin to imagine what you have to go through every day just to carry on with your life. You certainly have the right positive attitude, and your courage and determination seems to know no bounds. You have my heartfelt admiration . You and your lovely wife will get such joy from your baby boy, when is he due?

Sending you much love and hugs, and all best wishes for the future. Christine. XXX

Hi Justin, I suspect your lovely wife was attracted to you by your courage ; in dealing with conditions that may floor a lessor man. You have love for others & care about your child's future. The club feet are curable with treatment & the obvious love and support of his parents. I hope your dad and others are there to support you. Take care, Margaret x

Hi Justin I really feel for you and wish you all the best.   I'm not sure how we can help much though as this is a site for those with lung problems,  mainly copd but between us we have every lung condition under the sun!

You gave the game away with talking about medical insurance and bills.  We don't have that here as we have the NHS.  x

Hi Justin, lovely to meet you.

You and your wife certainly have a few health problems to deal with, and it is understandable that you worry for your baby. (Congratulations, by the way).  You seem aware that there is good treatment for Phoenix's club feet, but worried that he may have some of the same health issues as you do...even though you say they "made you the man you are"...and how much your mom truly loved you.  No one can guarantee what can happen in life, but all that love from you and your wife for your little 'miracle' will surely make him feel happy and secure.

I wish you all love and good luck and I hope you enjoy the thrill (and tiredness) of being a new dad.

Hi. Congratulations on the new baby! Sorry for your health issues. I am 30 with Bullous Emphysema (COPD) and also was injured in the service. I have an almost three year old. Its tough to keep the spirit up when you suffer, and I absolutely know what it is like to have to depend on others, feeling like a burden and that your significant other deserves better. Just be grateful as possible for what you can still do, also becoming a father will be the most rewarding thing in your life! Take care, post pictures of that baby when the time comes!

Hi JW - what a wonderful, inspirational post that puts things into perspective. At 26 you have been through and probably will continue to go through a great deal  but you do have your lovely wife at your side and will soon have a beautiful son to complete the picture. I hope that Phoenix will get all the help he needs and will lead a wonderful happy life because his mum and dad will have taught him how to be strong.

Good luck to you and wishing you a brighter future together. Take care. xxxx

Congratulations on soon becoming a dad to baby Phoenix. Like the others said the baby's feet will be sorted for him and with such a loving mum and dad he'll deal with anything life throws at him.
