When you're short of breath to start with, talking can make you very short of breath. When I am in a phase where my breathing is bad, I find talking exhausting and talking on the phone a bit of a nightmare. If you're just after an infection you're going to tire much more easily and talking like all other activities will be more difficult. Hopefully it should improve as you get stronger, if not talk to your doctor about it.

The head spinning could be your oxygen being low as thats what happens to me but the fact your having them symptoms from talking would be something i would be going back to my doc about .

Hope you feel bit better soon

I have COPD. I constantly loose my voice, talking on the phone is a nightmare, nothing they can do about it. I always overdo it work wise , that does not help, but someone has to do the work.....😉

Hi tod, I have COPD/asthma and I can get breathless when talking, but I don't get chest pain.

Have you oxygen levels been monitored at all?

The BLF have a helpline which is open during office hours....03000 030 333.

I would also ask your GP or respiratory nurse about the dizziness and pain.

Take care

It may be your oxygen levels are low or you may have plugs of sputum blocking so when you talk it may be moving around making you breathless suggest you go back to your docs and ask for a oxygen assessment well worth it . I did and feel much better now although I am on oxygen 24/7 now. But a chest infection really takes it out of me especially talking on the phone good luck hope you get better soonxx
