Hi

If you are referring to the powerbreath, and intend buying one

Go to

powerbreathe.com/products/p...

And purchase one designed for people with lung conditions. There are two.

The majority of other power breaths are for otherwise health people wishing to improve they training regime.

I am waiting to have physio to show me how to clear my lungs as I have developed Bronchiectasis. This was diagnosed 5 years ago but the consultant didn't then advise physio! Anyway went to GP for asthma check last December and told I should have been having x-rays every 2 years and should have had physio 5 years ago - well no one told me! Whilst searching around the web I too came across these exercisers. I have bought a "Flutter" as I read on quite a few local NHS websites that quite often they are either prescribed for you or you are advised to buy one by the physio. I have only been using one of these for a few days but can say it does do what it says and clears the mucus. I am still waiting for my physio appointment to come through. I have chased it up a few times just to make sure the letter had got to them. Other breathing exercises were spoken of but should only be done if you are shown by a professional.

Hi ,I to have Bronchietis and asthma and emphasyma ,I was prescribed a flutter devise last October and found it a great help in chest clearing of that dam mucus ,another thing you might be inteseted in ask your GP to refer you to the pulmary rehab course ,it's basic medication information and advise ,breathing exersises and exersise ,I can highly reccomend going to these course they are usually twice a week for 8 weeks ,they helped me enormously and I'm sure they would help you ,they are run by copd nurse specialists and physio's , usually at your local leasure centre ,give it try you won't regret it ,

Do you mean a flutter or the lung exerciser ?

I know about the flutter but not the exerciser and wondered about these too after watching a documentary where a woman used one but ive never heard of anyone using one and assumed we would be told by our consultants to use them if they helped but you never seem to get all the information...

Hi ,if you go onto you tube and type using a flutter devise, you will find it helpful ,Also go on Amazon and put flutter devise ,that's what I did ,saw how to use it ,read the recommendations and comments and asked my good nurse if it would help ME. ,she said yes so I got the go to prescribe mine,I don't use it every day ,probably 3 times a week when I go to bed ,it makes it so much easier to clear my chest ,

As for the lung exersiser I haven't seen them in use but I assume it's based on the same exersises taught by physio but with the help of a devise, maybe it's on you tube to ,

Best wishes,

I swear by my ultrabreather

alot cheaper and said to be as good. I use for 25 breaths a day

It must be aiding lung muscle strength as it s an effort. I m

pleased with it and price aprox 12 pounds.

It is not like a flutter .

I think I've got one of these. Is it the same as the device they use in scuba diving? If so then it must be excellent for building lung strength.

My nephew was a diver. After a terrible road accident the surgeons said he'd never have survived if hadn't had such strong healthy lungs.

I must find mine & start using it 😐

Hi, yes you can get an ultrabreathe medic on prescription. I did that. Dr said it was first she had prescribed, so did chemist. Boots couldn't get it in but Lloyds did.

Hi iloegre

How long have you had yours do you use daily

Do you think its good??

in reply to Seaelf

thankfully my breathlessness isn't bad yet, so it isnt powerful enough for me, at the moment but Im saving it for later to fall back on. To be effective it does need to be used exactly as stated in the info for them. Everything Ive read says these do work if used correctly and daily. Like muscles, stop using it and benefit goes. Im certain they are very good if needed though.

I prefer the breathing exercising in this video, it is enjoyable, does breathing and exercise together, and benefits are felt very quickly. My asthmatic friend felt a difference within minutes.
