Been thinking of it myself for sometime now life must be far better than living on antibiotics and prednisolone.

Has anyone here actually tried this? and if so does it work?

As I am on azithromycin I am reluctant to try something 'alternative' as I am doing better on the azi than I was before...but still would like fewer chest infections than I still get

Hi,

does it have to be one or the other? eg conventional or complementary? It would worth having an Ayurvedic consultation to discuss things. I have used Ayurvedic massages in India and they are marvellous and I use Ayurvedic teas here. An assessment of your needs will look at you as a whole rather than simply your condition.

Good wishes :-)

Hi there Sammy, I have just had a good luck at the link posted by stilltruckin. Firstly, the description of bronchiectasis is simplistic and inaccurate as the damage to our lungs varies considerably from patient to patient. The illustration shows patchy little sections of damage. Most patients have large sections of the lobes of the lung which are damaged. The claims that the exotically named 'drugs' which they use can heal the lung tissue are, in my opinion, fanciful. The problem with bronchiectasis lies in the fact that the alveoli at the end of the bronchi are extended. Rather like the effect when a ballon is blown up to its extreme and deflated. This is where the fluid collects which needs to be coughed out so that the bugs can't multiply. Think about it. If something as simple as this treatment were to cure bronchiectasis we would all have gone for it ( I have had it for 63 years), somebody would be a millionaire and our consultants would be only too happy to see the back of us. I suggest that you keep your money in your pocket, accept the fact that you live with the 'nasty little monster within' and concentrate on looking after yourself, making sure that you clear your chest to keep the bugs out, taking abs when you have an exacerbation. and making the most of your life.

Good luck, we are all with you.

Thanks to everyone for their comments, an interesting mix! I tend to be a realist and a bit nervous about trying untested meds or therapies, we take enough risks with our prescribed drugs, don't we? I take every day and sqeeze the very best out of it and am thankful that I can. My dear husband is always searching the internet for therapies alternative meds etc which is why I raised the question. Wishing you all a good day!

SAMMYJFL, I haven't, but I had a Chinese medicine treatment that didn't work at all!

Herbs are very soothing. ayuredic treats the energy, like Tai chi and Qi gung. I think it may be a good helper, but not the mainstay treatment. Antibiotics may not be the ideal solution, but, at the moment, they are very efficient. Act with caution, since it's your body! If sings are tht it doesn't work, stop it. Don't wait for 2 months! And if you need straight treatment from a "normal" doctor, please take this path.Hope you get help soon, Mic

Thanks Helingmic. It was mainly couriosity really. I just wondered if anyone had first hand experience of it. I usually maintain a reasonable lifestyle with Azithromycin 3 times a week plus 10mg Prednisolone plus a goodie bag of inhalers and tablets etc. I have a brilliant husband and a good social life and have a 'cup half full mentality' so consider myself very fortunate.
