Hi Paddy,I'm sure a lot of people will advise you from the UK.

I'm from OZ,but I think it's probably much the same.

Your Doctor needs to refer you to it.You will be given a 6minute walk,to gage your oxygen levels, this is also repeated at the end of the course also,to see if there's been an improvement.

There are certain exercises to do,you go at your own rate, also a programme is worked out,for your level of fitness.

I have jumped the gun, prior to this, there is education classes, very helpful,on how to manage your illness,& to make you aware of what is available in the community for you, this is followed up with a cuppa & chat,so a little social at the same time!

Hope this may be a little help to you xx

Hi paddy, I have just finished my rehab last week. It has taught me a lot. I would recommend you ask your doctor to arrange it for you. Everyone was so friendly the Nurses and Physios were great. We had laughs, leg pulling but they were strict on the exercises and the lectures were very informative. I now feel so much more in control of my Emphysema than it of me. Good luck, stay safe and well.

PR is the best thing you could go on, it will show you ways to breath and exercise move the gunk etc. With nurses that know your conditions and like minded people on the course.

Go for It!

Hi Paddy 1999

I am on one at present. 7 weeks and twice a week from 9am - 1pm Each week includes exercise and talk on a variety of essential sunbjects designed to help us cop better and understand thi dreaful illness.

I am a bronchil asthmatic COPD emphasema. I did one 5 years ago and found it very helpful. Follow up is a problem if you do ot have a charity based fellow suffers set up near you. But the work can be continued at home and cantact maintianed woth the team. I recommend it' I was on waiting lits both times and ot started with a GP and this time through a consultant. Let us know what you decide.

Thank you hallentine yes i taking everything in i think i will give it a go. it would be good to get some help with my illness some day i can not get my head around my illness this may help me alto. i have been running away from my illness for 5 year so good to get some help it been a very bad year for me so hope this would help me alot thank. there is not alto of charity around me that could help. great to get som help in my home to.
