Hi Rose,

I've been on Symbicort for about 4 years and haven't had a problem, That dosent mean your C.O.P.D is worse than mine, just that we are different. What's good for one person doesent always work the same for another, have a word with your Doctor, there may be an alternative to Symbicort or something else you can you can take with it.

Thank you dantredan.

My Consultant told me if I'm having a bad day I could take two puffs midday as well as 2 AM and two PM. Haven't done it yet. Mine doesn't always last 12 hours. Have a word with Doctor Nurse or BLF. Take care Rose xx

Morning Rose UK, My husband is on symbicort and has been for years. He found the same as you and decided to space out the four doses, he takes one in the morning, one at lunchtime, one at teatime and one at bedtime - he has found that works for him. He was told by the respiratory nurse that as it is reliever and preventer in one that he should not overuse it, but having said that he still finds it the most effective reliever! Perhaps you could ask your doctor if you could space the doses out or even ask him for a different inhaler. There are lots of inhalers available so it doesn't necessarily mean the COPD is worse just that you may need different treatment. If you find all this confusing - I know I do! - please ring the helpline (click on the red balloon) and speak to the nurses. Take care, Lots of love TAD xx

I'm on symbicort I find as I do so early in the morning,5am,don't sleep long,I try to wait til 5pm,if not I just do it about 3 30 to carry me through,so it's about using your wisdom to how you are feeling ,I find I'm so effected by my environment I never know how I'm going to feel, having asthma aswell,I mainly spend time at the beach, free of germs and pollution which is everywhere, sprays, traffic fumes soap powders, everything to me seems polluted,I have to live in my own world to avoid all this and people that use toxins.even at the beach so times I leave as people's clothes stink of soap powders .imediately seize up and sohave to run for my inhaler quickly,I have had to do this for about 20yrs as it was just accepted and not treated.so have copd.

Hi colours23, I react to many different allergens and when I went for my yearly asthma check today I was given montelukast and an antihistamine to try....will see if it makes a difference. I find being by the sea beneficial....shame I live miles inland!

Thanks, when I go for yearly check up,half is spent, trying to figure out how to use the machine, which I still havent been able to understand ,so I'm no better off,the other bit of time the nurse looks at the computer...and that's it! No one even speaks to me.waste of time,I have complained that NO ONE even asked how my inhaler?,it's a waste of my time, they get paid for it!im no better informed than when I went there,I was told you don't have asthma...I've had asthma all my life....change doctors.

I have already tried spacing them out this seems to work for me, once morning and one afternoon and sometimes take one inhalation at night, was just worried because this was not how the consultant prescribed them for me, he said twice daily morning and night.
