Mine was a really Heath Robinson do Jambo. SATS taken then up and down a corridor a few times then SATS taken again. SATS had dropped ergo I needed oxygen. All very scientific. Not!

I'm hoping to have one soon Jambo, for ambulatory oxy, you'll have to let us know how you go on. Sadie xx

My husband was assessed before his pulmonary rehab course and very similar to Bobby - walking test with oxi meter on finger sats dropped to 84 - needed oxygen for exercise. We felt exactly the same as Bobby. Hope yours is as straightforward and don't worry the oxygen has helped can now push a full trolley across the supermarket car park! Good luck TAD xx

Hi

My initial assessment was with respitory nurse prior to pulmonary rehab, I was put on 2lpm.

This was followed by a Ambulatory Assessment at my local hospital.this was a six minute walk test. As I was already on oxygen I walked from consulting room to gym no oxygen sats down to 83%.

The test is walking between two points of reference, after every minute they check you Sats. They look for 91/92% Sats when walking.

You continue at your pace resting when you need to, and if you wish stop,

As the appointment is usual for one hour you will have plenty of time to discuss your options in types of equipment to suit your requirements.

On offer will be

POC. Portable oxygen concentrator

Liquid oxygen

Cylinders .....two sizes

The above will be subject to your available delivery system continuos or

pulse?

I have a follow up appointment in six months.

I don't have a portable oxygen concentrator, only when I go on holiday. I have a large concentrator in my living room with tubing that reaches round my bungalow, a large oxygen cylinder in my hall for emergencies ( power cuts), I also have a Helios Marathon refillable portable tank which I refill from a dewar (large tank of liquid oxygen) which is in a shed. I use this when I go out and depending if you have it on continuous or demand it lasts from 4 to 8 hours, so plenty of time for a decent outing. This is replaced when it is nearly empty. I just thought I would show you the alternatives. Keep smiling
