Good Afternoon Everyone

I hope everybody is well and the warm weather isn't causing any problems.

Only a few weeks ago i was putting links on the forum for ice and snow alerts and now another problem for people with allergies.... Pollen.

As i said in an earlier post pollen and other associated seasonal allergies are expected to affect more people this year and for a longer period of time due to winter hanging on in there and spring deciding to be fashionably late!

The Met Office have a pollen map which shows how bad it is predicted to be - link below:

metoffice.gov.uk/public/wea...

It is also worth remembering that pollen/tree/grass allergies etc can start at any age without any previous history and can be quite debilitating. Even if you haven't had symptoms for a while they may come back.

So, any symptoms such as itchy runny nose, itchy eyes, itchy throat then have a chat with a pharmacist or your GP for appropriate medication if needed.

The following information from NHS Choices has specific information re symptoms -

nhs.uk/Conditions/Hay-fever...

There is also very good information about ways to try to prevent symptoms -

Keep Well

Hi jo, i find Piriton, works well and doesn't react with my other medication, also if you ask for the pharmacy's own brand its not expensive,

Hi Everyone

As azaard say's there are a lot of shops that sell antihistamines under their generic name (eg) Cetirizine and Loratidine which can help to bring the price down.

As always do check before taking them to ensure they do not interact with anything else you are taking.

Cheers

Jo
