Lung infections have got worse due to cooler weather not so much pollen.

Spring?? Where?? Seriously, I seem to be unable to control [via Fluticasone propionate 50mcg BD] symptoms such as: runny nose, sneezing, blocked nasal passages, mild sinus headaches etc...Which is worrying as nasal infections often worsen my long standing bronchiectasis and aspergillosis...

Fluctuating humidity levels also seem to impact on breathing issues

sore throat, coughing more than usual, nose keeps running and very itchy eyes.very short of breath.

Having a bit of sneezing and itchy eyes and nostrills, but nothing too bad, all bearable. Been taking a spoonful of my local honey every morning for the last 4 weeks or so.

Headache, sore throat, laryngitis, runny nose, sneezing and breathless. I have suffered from hay fever for years but nothing too bad. This year I am finding the symptoms worse (even with the aid of antihistamin tablets). Do you think it is the result of a late spring this year.

I have found the tree pollen worse this year than previously. Suffering with throat, eyes, nose & breathing problems.

Seems to be lots of tree pollen in East Anglia, and has make my chest very tight during the night and mid day

yes I've noticed the hay fever to be more of a nuisance this year than last year with more sneezing & terrible congestion of our nose's, my son who has asthma also suffers from hay fever, I don't have asthma but have hay fever! luckily though I shouldn't speak too soon it's not made my eyes & throat itch yet! And as for my son he nearly always has a sore throat anyway but I recon its been itching his throat as he sounds like he needs to clear his throat, the hay fever has also affected my younger daughter so I can see there has been an increase with the pollen/hay fever this year especially!

I personally don't get hayfever but Pete started sneezing last night and was a bit chokier than usual. He also sounds nasally sometimes but it is not a cold or anything so maybe he has allergies. He does take Piriton but may need something stronger. He can speak to GP when he goes on 5th June.

have not had much sun here in Wales but I've noticed I'm more breathless outside than when indoors. Eyes itchy and my throat is sore after I've been talking. I'm on Spiriva.

Wise sayings, Daz, couldn't agree with you more especially with our "respected" politicians - not mentioning any particular party. Just tell any person in charge that I could respect. You would have a job but enough of politics! Put the Boy Scouts in charge. (smiley)

Cheers Annieseed :)

I had a very bad bout in february of breathlessness but that was due to a chest infection. I have been in Spain since end of May , so cant really comment on UK. My daughter in UK hasnt said that her hayfever has been any worse than usual. But, we are all different, and people are affected differently, so it's hard to tell .

Reading the other peoples comments, i feel fortunate that i am able to spend so much time in Spain. If i was in UK the whole year round i know i would suffer more with my chest and hayfever, so i do sympathise with everyone. I have had hayfever since i was a child, and it got a little better after my last child was born,(they say something to do with hormones), but i know how debilitating it can be.,especially with chest problems as well.

Just realised, I am much more wheezy than normal and two breathless episodes , and I had not thought of hay fever until I started to answer this.

Time for a pill I think

we have just returned from2 weeks holiday in Snowdonia my chest was fine I was able to do some hill walking without any real problems mainly due to the fact that the air is so much clearer there. returning home the Rape seed oil is in flower and the fields are full of it you can smell it in the air consequently I am now suffering with my breathing and will no doubt do so until the season is over happens every year.

I HAVE HAY FEVER LIKE SYMPTOMS ALL THE YEAR ROUND,ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO MY NURSE TOLD ME TO TRY TONIC WATER 2 GLASSES A DAY, I MUST SAY ,THOUGH IT HAS NOT CURED IT,IT HAS MADE A HECK OF A DIFFERENCE, SO NOW I INTEND TO TRY MY DOCTOR TO SEE IF HE CAN GIVE ME A STRONGER DOSE OF QUININE, I KNOW THIS IS NOT HAY FEVER BUT SYMTOMS ARE VERY MUCK THE SAME,RUNNY NOSE EYES ALWAYS WATERING, AND LOTS OF SNEEZING, HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP OTHERS LIKE MYSELF.

Never had hay fever before. I've had 2 lots of antibiotics and 1 lot of steroids in the last month, as well as being given a nebuliser for the first time. Really sore chest, sore throat and very short of breath. My respiratory nurse has suggested I try antihistamines if the nebuliser doesn't make much difference. Chemist will be my next port of call.

I suffer with tree pollen so that has been much later this year. Oil seed rape is now on Stream so using air con in car. That makes a HUGE difference. Would not dare drive w with car windows open. Last time I did that was years ago and I was in bed foe a week. Apparently I am not allergic to anything (according to consultant couple of months ago). I hope he's around 1 day when I collapse!

hi jan,i have just moved to a new house that has large beech trees in the avenue.since i have been here i havnt stopped sneezing.headaches in the mornings.having removed all carpets of previous owner, still sneezing.do you think it may be the trees.i sleep with bedroom window open at night..

Most probably beech pollen is one of the worst. Try taking an antihistamine and if you stop then you will know (check with pharmacy which ones you can take with other meds you may be on - or your doc) Good Luck and let me know how you go

jandan, thank you for your advice,i will take some antihitamine .

It's probably the cooler, damper temperature coinciding with the pollen, but I too have noticed a worsening and need to use the rescue pack on a couple of occasions. I live rurally, and the farmer that owns the surrounding land loves oil seed rape.

I used to get really bad hay fever when I was younger, but it hasnt been too bad since I moved to Somerset, and am fairly near to the sea. I was fine when I lived at Westcliff on Sea, in Essex too. I have been sneezing a lot and violently recently as has my husband who also has allergic rhinitis. I was quite breathless for a couple of weeks, and had to use my asthma inhaler more than normal. Is it because of the late Spring? It isnt as bad now as it was two weeks ago so perhaps it is easing off a bit now.

My copd as been the worse this year with a bad virus and then hay fever( runny itchy nose and sneezing ) or a cold not to sure, but have been very breathless and short of breath , I have been like this for the last month. had some antibiotic's and feed a lot better but still got a dull headache. ouch ......

Since I left the comment above my asthma has got worse, and I am having to use twice the amount of seretide than I usually do. I am also using my ventoline at least twice per day, but I am still coughing (I do that more than wheezing my my type of asthma) and having problems inhaling. Do you think that taking antihistamines could help, as I do have a tendency to be allergic to things?
