going back to propranolol after diltiazem

i Hope it’s ok to post here because ive also posted in the AF forum but I could really use some advice asap.

I was on 80mg slow release propranolol for a few years and recently my PVCs have become very very frequent. Had all test and cardiologist said benign PVCs and I could try diltiazem if I wanted. She said down to switch straight to diltiazem.

anyway yesterday I took my first dose in the morning and was ok. However after my second dose last night I’ve been having horrible feelings of anxiety, pounding heart and shaky jittery body. I literally have not slept. Every time i nearly dozed off my body would jolt me awake.

So I am meant to take my next diltiazem at 9am but there is no way I can cope with another day of feeling like this. I want to go back to the propranolol and am wondering if it would be ok to take my usual dose at 9am instead?

I will obviously phone my cardiologist and check but the chances of getting through and speaking to her before my 9am dose is pretty slim.

anyone changed straight from diltiazem to propranolol?

hi mummyofspot I changed from propranolol to Diltiazen just a straight swap however the Diltiazen is not helping with my anxiety levels in the way propranolol was ! Good luck to you with getting advice on what to do 🥰

Thanks so much. I’ve taken the propranolol instead of the diltiazem this morning. Can’t stand feeling like this. I’ve emailed my cardio and I’ve got an appointment with my GP today about something else so will run it all by her. Fingers crossed you feel better soon, good luck x
