Thanks for reply it’s been 3 months since my HA so I thought i would have had my outpatient appointment by now .
think you should chase it up !
I never got one at all. I had to go back for a second angiogram a month or so after my heart attack but apart from them saying at the time that I didn't need any more stents, ( I was sedated so I didn't take much in)that was the last I heard from them. I did eventually get an appointment for cardiac rehab; saw the nurse once who wouldn't put me forward for rehab because I'm in a wheelchair and that was it-- over to my GP.
Oh right that’s a shame you didn’t get the rehab they should cater for people in wheelchairs too.
Yes I might do that thank you.
I usually have written on my discharge summaries when I am to see my Cardiologist after admission, usually 4 months later.
I suggest you have look at your discharge summary and see which Cardiologist is listed, contact their Medical Secretary and ask for an appointment.
Alternatively perhaps contact the Patient Advisory Liaison Service PALS of the hospital and ask them to help you.
My heart attack was mid Jan this year. I've chased a lot. Just found out that I have my Cardiologist appointment in mid September, so I make that 8 months.
my husband had a telephone appointment with cardiology 5 months after his heart attack.
My partner too had a telephone appointment 4.5 months after the attack. I would phone the cardiologist's medical secretary to ask for the date of your appointment (it should have been booked at discharge). You should be able to find the name of the secretary on the hospital website, otherwise, just call the main number and ask for the medical secretaries for cardiology then ask for the specific secretary to that consultant. They are often the best port of call for chasing queries and can sometimes be very helpful.
I had a STEMI 3 years ago. They did 2 angioplasties while I was in hospital, then discharged me. I waited for at least 3 months before I was given an outpatient appountment which was actually a phone call because of Covid. As I remember it, I had to phone the cardiologist's secretary to get the appointment.
I was pretty surprised about all of it. They seemed to just kick me out with potentially no follow up.
No Rehab either because of Covid.
