hi. I’m doing ok. Hope you are feeling a bit brighter. Although TWU & Andy are not on here anymore they definitely haven’t forgotten about you. You are, as always, very popular and well thought of. X

I'm sorry,

I miss you, unfortunately I don't have any reason to post and I'm sure my post would be more social than heart related.

I don't agree with the social thread so I try not to post on here.

You can always message me

If you see any young people you can always tag me or message me and I'll find them.

Mum is doing okay, although I've only had 3 phone calls and 5 texts today so I think she is okay.

I was frantically looking for his new post or replies to see if he is still around. He had lots of good information to share..pity he was forced out 😞

Whattttt?! I wondered what you were referring to in your message the other day, but at the time supporting you was more important than finding out.Really????!

That's crazy.

I completely agree with you, BlossomsInSpring, it's such a shame to loss such valuable members. One of whom helped with our physical recoveries and the other with our mental health recoveries! #bringTWU back and #bring Andytheextransporter back.

deniseinmilden profile image
deniseinmilden in reply toCee-Cee1

Totally agree!

Madness to ban the most helpful people.

Is there any way we can contact them?

I wonder if TWU could be encouraged to set up his own forum or group that we could join? A sort of Recovery Group, rather than this one that is officially affiliated to the BHF.

There is something about a social group on some of posts? What is this about, please? I'm sorry I missed it!

Can anyone tell me, please?

JeremiahObadiah profile image
JeremiahObadiah in reply todeniseinmilden

You should find that the BHF put up a post every so often which is a Social Post where people can chat about anything rather than being restricted to matters related to heart issues.

It is a good idea but it does mean things get buried amongst chatter that might deserve/merit more attention and it is hard to pick out anything as it’s a single long thread.

The idea is to keep the rest of the forum clear of too much clutter and distraction.

Sadly some good members have had to leave due to some turbulence and possible bullying by another member, in my eyes. A big shame as they are much missed, valued and helpful members. One hopes that the BHF will see that there is call for such here and that dogmatic rule enforcement has had a negative impact on the general friendly support being given .

Hi!

Thank you very much for your reply.

We had a similar problem on the Pernicious Anaemia HU forum, until eventually, after years of abusive posts, the troll was finally evicted and some of our valuable contributors were persuaded to come back. It's been good for several years now, thank goodness.

Thank you!

If TWU has indeed been thrown off the forum, then it is an extremely sad day. The likes of him with his encouraging posts, positivity and helpful information are what this forum needs. If he has been expelled then he has probably not had the reason explained to him which will not encourage him to return in another guise.

Being on this forum is like being on a cliff edge waiting to be pushed off. Just what we don't need with all the other pressures that life brings.

worlds gone mad.

Anon2023 profile image

he’s definitely been thrown off because he questioned the inconsistent monitoring and censorship on this forum. It appears that some contributors can say what they please but that others are subject to sanctions. In my experience, he was always very kind, helpful and inspirational unlike some others who can be downright rude and antagonistic and still get away with it. I suspect that I may be next in the firing line for raising this.

This site has become very bland without the output of those who have been forced to leave. Telling jokes or giving very good practical advice and inspiring others to get out there and embrace life should be considered a positive, not something to be punished.

We are all grown ups here and don't need nanny watching over us, except when bad medical advice is being given

What's going on? Have I missed something? People seem to be vanishing left, right and centre.

people on here need to understand that this forum is for heart related issues, not a mental health support group.

I’ve never spread negativity or complain about anyone, this is really the first time I write about what I really think.

It is quite normal that people will be discouraged to “pollute” the blog with non heart related posts, no matter how positive the message is, it is just not the reason why this blog was designed for.

Maybe, if you consider to write just about your mental health or having a chat, join an appropriate blog or FB page? Like this you won’t feel disappointed or ill treated.

Well I've been a member since 2019 and in my experience it has always been a mixture of health related peer support, humour and friendship.I'm also a member of the Blood Pressure Association group and the AF association and they both offer friendly support, with the emphasis on friendly. If all we can say is " Ah yes, I have that too but I can't offer you any advice or lighten your day " then what is the point? To be honest you'd be better off doing something else with your time.

Silvertail profile image

Hear, hear too. Mental and physical health are actually closely related. Good mental health can positively affect your physical health just as poor mental health can negatively affect your physical health. ❤️

in reply toLetsallhope1

Lets not forget getting to grips with a heart condition or heart incident weighs heavy on ones mental health. And just like a good nutrtious diet and tailored exercise to help improve our situation we should and must have regard to caring for our mental health - without all three our road to recovery may be rocky.

Therefore humour, caring and personal journey/information from all helps enormously.

To hear that those who have been so supportive of others have been excluded certainly saddens the heart and is counterintuitive to helping each other to spread hope of a good life following a heart issue whilst addressing questions asked by others.

I'm completely lost. I thought that people can only be thrown off a forum if they are abusive. In this era of inclusivity, aren't we encouraged to accept all types? Black, white, green, yellow, pink, funny, serious, round, skinny, sporty, unsporty. You know what I mean. 🤷‍♀️

deniseinmilden profile image
deniseinmilden in reply toPefki

Totally... Except kind, balanced, sensible, caring, inspiring, experienced, helpful, encouraging people who write exceptionally well, it seems!

We are all going through all sorts of stuff, medically and otherwise. I thought this forum was for is to all give support where we think we can. For example, I have been retrenched as of Friday because company was sold and being restructured. I need to find legal advice by Thursday afternoon to sign off on a settlement agreement, which is proving very difficult. I am very distressed about the whole situation. Less than 3 months after urgent major surgery, I daren't ask for advice or moral support here. It would be classed as inappropriate an unrelated to the forum subject matter I assume.

Hi Pefki. I don’t know anything about employment law, but are you in a union or do you have a professional body you could talk to? If not, I suggest a call to the citizens advice bureau, and if they can’t help, call a local solicitor and ask for an urgent appointment with someone dealing in employment law. Worth the cost for peace of mind x

Hi I too am fed up with the way this group has gone If you have a heart condition your mental health is thrown a shock too and you need support for that too The heart rehab gives a talk on your mental health so they consider it important so why can't we discuss it I belong to the Facebook aortic pre and post surgery group and webtalj about anything and do a Zoom every three weeks it's a great group

This one should be the same VCone in moderators why are the people we want on pushed out and all the negative people who complain left on Why can't they scroll past want they don't want to read and put in search what they want to know

Hello Suzz7,

We appreciate your engagement in the BHF community. This space is dedicated to conversations around heart health, allowing individuals to share their personal experiences. With this focus in mind, we kindly request that discussions outside of the "social check-in" thread mostly focus on heart health.

Regrettably, we'll have to turn off comments for this post to maintain this direction. We hope you understand the purpose of this decision, and please do continue sharing your thoughts and experiences in the other relevant discussions.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
