I am new to this community, I have been feeling a bit isolated as I live alone, and find that friends tend to believe I am fixed and fine although I am not. I don't want to worry my adult children too much, so this seems like a good place to share and learn a thing or two. I continue to find navigating the NHS difficult, so I will be looking for tips on that.

I hope you find this forum supportive and helpful.
Feel free to post on here when you have a heart/medical related question. There is also a social check-in thread should you wish to participate where we can discuss anything within reason of course that is not heart related.
hi Littlelottiecat I’m quite new in the heart section, I’ve found everyone so kind and helpful I do hope you do too. It’s not nice feeling isolated so it’s good you have taken that step to find support. 🙂
I am sorry to hear you are feeling isolated, I am also new to this group and am blown away by the kindness and support everyone gives on here. As some of the other replies have said this is a great place to talk to other people who understand the struggles of living with heart conditions.
When I first moved house last month I had felt lonely and isolated as it was a big step as I had lived in the previous area for nearly 30 years in various houses there.
Now I feel at ease in the local community and I feel I was done a favour when I was evicted but the legal procedure was horrible to go through especially having to go to court but that was better than being on my own at home receiving the possession order from court without anyone there for support.
Today I have enjoyed a nice day out going swimming and a picnic in the park and then back here for some dinner and to put the washing on which is all now up to date!
Hi Littlelottiecat,I'm new too. I've found it hard telling people about my diagnosis too. My lads took it stoically. My husband is helping and supporting. My best friend was the hardest to tell. I got very tearful, as my Dad had this and I didn't for a minute think I'd have AF too. I stopped listening to my Gp.
I can understand, and sympathize, with you NOT "listening to my GP" but get another one...sometimes we expect to much from GP's. Someone has to graduate at the bottom of the class. Doesn't necessarily mean that they're not good at their chosen work...
Hi,She's a brilliant Gp. I should have said I stopped listening. Purely because it was a shock. I wasn't expecting anything other than Tachycardia.
Thanks though. Our practice has a couple of no empathy Dr's. But more that are really good. The Dr who requested the monitor was the one who found my Dad in Atrial Fibrillation on an ECG. I thought a 7 day monitor was a bit ott. But apparently not.
Hello Littlelottie, it's lovely to meet you and, like the others here, I'd like to send you a warm welcome to the forum. I also live alone, but I'm lucky to have close family nearby and very friendly neighbours. We have a section for social posts too where the posts are less health related, what we've all been up to and even some jokes🙂. If you look toward the right of your screen you'll find it under the heading Pinned Posts and it's the first topic there called Social Check In. Once again, Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy it! Carol
Hi Littlelottiecat welcome to the forum. I’ve found this and the atrial fibrillation forum to be a lifeline and stopped me feeling alone. I tend to dip in and out, and was initially afraid of asking for any kind of advice or support yet alone offering it to others. Plenty cat and dog lovers around too! 😸
Thing is when you hold emotions in they fester like an untreated wound and they can turn nasty and it's not fair to you to feel like that and its not fair to those they are directed at especially when they have done nothing to deserve your anger and resentment towards them!
Today here will be a quiet day with a walk and a nice roast dinner perhaps out at one of the local pubs.
