It’s three years since I had a heart attack and stent fitted for a blocked artery.

Im quite well but struggling a bit walking up hill and feel like I’m not getting enough oxygen.Am wondering if I should be getting any kind of follow up tests after three years to make sure everything is ok? Don’t want to bother the dr. Unnecessarily as they so busy.

Thank you for replying, could you tell me what tests they did for you? Presumably at the hospital?

I agree with Montana, get checked out, I had stent fitted after NSTEMI in March, then in August I was getting breathless going uphill I went back to Gp and was sent back to hospital had angiogram and needed a further stent in same artery. Dave.

First they did a Bruce Protocol Stress test on the treadmill with some kind of stuff in veins. They took pictures before the injection then after the injection and stress test was completed. I went 6 min and some off seconds with them changing incline and speed about every 60 seconds.?? I was able to talk with just a little tightness during the stress test.

During the stress test the monitor showed 1.5 svt value number not good. Then they scheduled a heart catheter procedure following week and that is when they found out I had another blockage past the stent and it was 100 percent blocked. They tried to put a stent in but could not. I felt fine before all this during the month of May June July and August but was scheduled for my 6 month appt but they forgot to call me since they went to another system that dropped me. I had moved the month of May. And moved many boxes when up and down the stairs over and over again in heat and with 3 tornados on the day of the move.

After the Cath procedure the Dr was shocked I had not had a heart attack. I guess the collaterals take over and cause veins to spread to the part of the heart that needs oxygen and was feeding the blocked artery that is why I did not have heart attack. I walk to two corgies etc everyday. They are my babies.

So, I have seen 3 surgeons and decided to have it at one major hospital Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital. They are doing off pump CABG surgery. Either from the side or sternum. robotic hybrid.

The dr that did my stent took me off of the brillinta but I did not take the Lipator. I wonder if that is why I got a blockage. I regret not doing that now since I have damaged my heart. I should of picked that hard instead of this hard of getting a bypass. I am now taking the 40mg lipator every day.

Please go and get it checked. You could only need another stent and not a bypass like me. It may not be as bad as you think.

Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made. God protected me during those months by allowing those veins to grow and populate the lad artery. Collaterals is what they are called. They have a mind of their own. Some bp meds cause grow them.

Trust God go get looked at and don’t be afraid. It will be alright.

Also 8 months before I had my stent put in, favorite corgie passed. It about killed me. I was so heart broken. During rehab i was educated to the fact women can have heart attacks from the broken heart syndrome Also I am 71 and have no ovaries or uterus. I was told the estrogen protects the heart and bones. So stress. covid . dog dieing added to it. no female hormones.
