Hello everyone

I had a heart failure in September

Bnp 5400. My heart is running 25%.

Doctors have prescribed the normal tablets.

I just need advice and good spirit who had experience of this and how you are coping.

Thank you so much of your time

Sam

Hello I had heart failure 18 months ago, with EF of 26%. I spent 6 days in hospital and have been on the usual medication. I went to cardiac rehab, which is obviously not happening at the moment, and continued light exercises after. I enjoy walking so started with short walks which gradually became longer. 3-4 times a week I walk 10km. You can do whatever exercise you enjoy, just check with your nurse first, and follow a healthy diet.6 months later my EF went up to 36%, and has stayed at that level.

I hope this helps. Heart failure can be managed with medication and healthy diet and exercise. All the best and a merry Christmas.

Dear Sam, thank you for following me! I haven't written much! I just wanted to say that the medication works really well and I am sure will improve your condition. They do make you feel tired at first but this does wear off. You should a heart failure nurse assigned who will help you as they slowly increase medication and can help with any questions. Whichever diet you use, minimise salt intake as this can affect you. It took a year before I had an MRI scan so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit! My arteries were all clear too. There is a really good website, pumping Marvellous, which has loads of info and a good Facebook group. They upload videos with exercises, there is a recipe group and lots of others... They are also brilliant for information about the latest treatments! Take care x

Hello pommel

Thank you for your reply and advise.

I actually saved as a favourite now, i will browse that website - pumping Marvellous

Im here because i want to share with all you good people what i am experiencing and i would dearly like know what others are experiencing with heart failure. A completely new to me, really shell shocked - but i am keeping strong and firm with full faith.

What I realised is that good diet - Mediterranean diet preferably, exercise (this depends on your condition), the medication, and the change of lifestyle etc and above all positive approach to your condition. Take everyday with hope and positive mind (happy thoughts).

Thank you

Take care

X

Just seen your post and passing on my experiences. My diagnosis of 30% ejection fraction came after a fairly serious incident but was still a bit of a shock. Exercise and diet and keeping to the medication first prescribed have allowed me to recover to a fairly normal lifestyle. There is plenty of advice on all this on the BHF website and I joined and stayed with a cardiac rehab exercise class to help increase my physical abilities under supervision and with a group of people in similar circumstances. Worth looking for a group you can join once these start up again and there are some online groups out there waiting to re-form.

Hello Thank you heartinthehills for your reply,

Yes i have searched in my area, just now in Birmingham for support groups and there good few which i will contact soon.

It is good to have these contacts. I think this kind of groups and activities will boost confidence in our daily lives with our condition.

See if i can find any online groups.

Thank you again, much appreciated.
