I have been told the above is better than a heart attack but also that it can lead to one. Anyone out there with knowledge of this condition and its effects both in the short and long term. Have been put on Anlodopine but every few days feel light headed and have pain in neck . On 5mg. Anyone else with experience of this drug?
Coronary artery spasm: I have been told... - British Heart Fou...
Coronary artery spasm
I have lived with vasospastic angina the term now being used rather than coronary artery spasms for 8 years.
Some people experience a heart attack and make a full recovery without any on going problems others are left with permanent heart damage.
Some people living with vasospastic angina with treatment have their angina well managed others despite lots of medication have ongoing angina and frequent hospital admissions, Refractory angina
Calcium Channel blockers such as Amlodipine and Diltiziem are the usual medications to treat vasospastic angina.
The BHF has this information about vasospastic angina.
I have it and have been given Diltiazem which works like a charm. I am feeling really good. I have fibromyalgia which gives me more trouble but I have started on medical cannabis drops and I am already feeling an improvement. I need to get some exercise so that will be my next focus.
Hi Denva
Did you discuss taking medical cannabis drops with your GP or Cardiologist?
There are many different substances contained within the oil which could trigger a vasospasm.
I have to avoid coffee, artificial sweeteners, cold remedies containing pseudoephedrine, adrenaline and beta blockers as they have triggered my vasospasms.
My Cardiologist advised that I should not take any herbal remedies including medical cannabis oil for this reason.
I had it prescribed through a dr. I will check with her. Thank you.
Are they can expert in caring for patients with Vasosoastic angina?
I will check. 😊😊
I am aware that cannabis oil can be beneficial for people living with chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia.
However there is very little research to know how cannabis oil can effect heart conditions or interact with heart medications.
Here are some articles discussing the possible negative impacts of cannabis and vasospastic angina.
Welcome Bradshaw278!
I was diagnosed June this year. Have just started taking Amlodipine myself - only 3 days in so bit early to tell. Have tried Diltiazem and Verapamil but body doesn't tolerate those so it's a case of 3rd time lucky.
I'm getting spasms near enough daily feels like I've got an elephant sat on my chest most days and chest pain which can sometimes radiate up into my shoulders.
The lightheadedness could be because they lower your blood pressure but am definitely not an expert so if you are unsure I'd seek advice from GP.
Hope your symptoms improve - keep us posted. We're a friendly bunch! 😊
I know I've found this forum a God send and everyone's really supportive ❤
