good morning all , diagnosed heart failure probably caused by high blood pressure and weight gain . quite frightening at times , short of breath particularly early morning . would like to hear from others of their experiences and thoughts on being diagnosed with this .anyone know of any heart failure groups in shropshire . thanks in advance

Hi amp73, my husband has HF. He was diagnosed in 2012 and has had an ICD fitted due to low EF. He also suffers with shortness of breath, especially after a shower or a walk. We're not in the Shropshire area, however, there is a heart failure charity called Pumping Marvellous who also have a private Facebook support group of the same name. They are thousands of members on there who may be able to advise on local support groups. If you've not already done so, I highly recommend you have a look at the website, so much information there. Please don't Google looking for info as it's usually completely wrong & can scare the life out of you (no pun intended)

Being told you have HF is very scary but so much has happened & is still happening in the medical word that most people with HF can & do live normal lifes with normal life spans, there's people here who've had it for 20+ years. HF simply means your heart needs a bit of help pumping, and lifestyle, exercise & meds will certainly help that
