As some of you are following my story here so I thought I update you but if you are new then please see link below.

Finally, I got the all-important news, not what I was expecting, nevertheless a progress after six months of living in a limbo.

I was expecting an appointment for an ICD/PM implant, but it seems that the EP team does not see me as foregone conclusion for the device implant, despite my cardiologist’s confession six months ago.

I shall be having the EP study next month, I guess the results of the study would then determine the next course of action, which either be I need a device implant, or I don’t!

When I reviewed the pros and cons of the device implant, I tilted towards having it, despite significant risks/complications etc. I felt that having a little friend will always be reassuring and probably allow me to return to my passion, running. Although my cardiologist is adamant that the EP study would be ‘positive’ but seems that his views are overlooked by the EP team!

Feel free to share your thoughts, impartial point of view is always welcomed!

Thanks in advance

A similar thing happened to me so I really feel for you. You work yourself up to making a big decision (the right one, I think), believing it will get you back to where you want to be, then it all falls flat. It can be very disheartening. In my case, I was a week away from getting an ICD then the plan changed all of a sudden and I had another 6 months delay. On the positive side, I did eventually get a CRT device and I feel so much better, now waiting for a 6 month checkup with my cardiologist.

Hang on in there. It will be worth the wait in the end.
