very unhappy,
Hello and welcome to the forum! As a firmer fitness instructor I think you know what to do. If you lose around half your weight and start taking exercise you diabetes control will improve immensely and you may be able to reduce or stop ant diabetic medication. Your BP and cholesterol should also improve. I don't think I have to tell you about the possible diabetes associated complications!
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your son but I am sure he would not have wanted you to give up living which is what you are virtually doing! Near here a couple list their teenage son around the same time as you lost yours. They made his bedroom a shrine and stopped living becoming depressed, obese and unfit for work. You have but one life and nobody wants you to waste it!
I am so sorry about your son. Losing weight and getting fit would help your unhappiness and perhaps get some counselling and help with weight loss and fitness.
So sorry to hear about your loss and I echo everything that others have said. You have reached out to this group so in my mind that means you want to do something different with your life and stop dwelling on the past as I am sure your sadness has stopped you from achieving your ambitions. Speak to healthcare professionals including those for your mental health. Turn your life around and I am sure your son will be proud of you. Best of luck xxx
Diabetes brings with it a horrible devastating slow painful death. If you don't change you will have to get a wheel chair, probably lose limbs, have sight problems and have to go into a care home.
BUT you have made the first step, you have recognised that you have a problem and for that you are to be praised. I think you know that you need to change and your local GP should be able to identify an action plan for your recovery.
I have seen people go both ways on this illness but It is highly recoverable. look on Diabetes UK website for useful information

i lost my daughter in 2008 and so i know how you feel, its devastating and i dont thinktime makes it easier, quite the opposite, however you sould try to take care of your health, i didnt and had a stroke which left me hemiplegic, so along with the grief i have to cope with disability, all the best to you try to be strong
