Hello and welcome! I had a quadruple bypass in June and feel the heat is holding back my recovery as I can barely exercise in the heat. Things were good last weekend and at the start of the week but last few days o have been at a virtual standstill. If you look through the forum you will see many Hearties are struggling with the heat!

Thanks Michel for replying its good to find this site and know people are in the same situation. It's a bit of a shock trying to be positive. I'm 60 yrs old and never had anything serious wrong with my health.

Hi Sue welcome to the forum. I too have suffered in this heat. It’s a nightmare. I stay indoors fan on windows and doors open. Cold pack on neck. Hot water bottle with cold water in from freezer! Lots of water and ice lollies. Cold food no hot food. If it were the 18th century it would be called a fit of the vapours!!! Add to this that due to a neurological condition I don’t sweat then it’s a nuisance! But it’s nice when it rains!! I would hate to be anywhere in Mediterranean at the moment. My partner is in Rhodes and it’s 46 degrees!! Thank goodness I live in Newcastle! Always slightly less warm in the frozen North!! But unfortunately bad in winter! Oh well can’t win!! Hopefully it should settle in the next week. Take care. Zena x

Started last week well but now just perspiring it out. It was 28 at 8:00 last night and they are predicting 32 today. The cats went out early but settled down before 9:00. One has found a gentle breeze by on open window on the shady side - smart animals cats!

Hi Welcome to the site. I had heart failure in December I don’t go out much only to hospital when I need to as I can’t walk far

Hi sue,

I have been diagnosed with heart failure and yesterday i was frustrated at not being able to enjoy the heat with my family so I pushed through my tiredness and did some gardening and really enjoyed it. I was so tired last night though and have felt unwell all day today as a result of it. You can’t win!!

Try and keep up your fluids and rest when your body says it needs it (I need to practise what I preach lol)

Take care

Nat x

I know what you mean it's so frustrating. Trying to act on what my body tells me at the moment nothing. Hopefully when temperatures drop we will be able to cope better. Thanks.

Yes, My cardiologist had just taken me off my water pills as I've not had any problems and I was fine for a week, even in the heat. Then my ankles and legs started to swell. Luckily I had some of the water meds left so I started back on them again and they are helping a lot! Makes me tired and takes my energy too.
