I gave up alcohol on 1/1/2016.

Was having a bottle of beer daily. Never a problem, but I felt it would benefit 1. Health 2. Finances.

I suffer from Limb Girdle Muscular, Lung failure, Cardiomyopathy and Psoriasis.

I gave up smoking in 2013.

I live on my own. Age 53. Use Ventilator ( IPAP ) at home.

My strategy - To keep going as long as possible. !!

Another thing I try is to focus on the fact that we only have one life and most people travel a rocky road at some point. So I very much try not to compare myself to others but to just live the life I've got and be happy. And if I still get miserable as sin I let myself wallow ...... for a while!

Also cut right down on alcohol; I only had one medium glass of wine each night anyway, but often go without now, or drink a juice instead. My psoriasis has calmed down And I'm losing weight!! Win Win!

1-Reducing stress through multiple ways. 2-Joining a women's Bible study focused on women's relationships and bringing the Gospel into the world by helping others. Helping others is a great way for me to appreciate what I have and to care about others' needs and not my own. I've made lots of good friends through this group. 3-Personal examination and decisions to grow and mature or change in areas I determine would benefit from any of these modifications, making me love who I am even more. 4- Forgiving people who have hurt me and letting go of the whole experience, even if I have to do it many times over many months to fully let go so that there's no anger or resentment within me regarding the wrong done to me. 5- Deciding at times NOT to be serious and to just "let go" and be playful or even silly because laughter is great medicine. 6- Being in CBT counseling with a fantastic counselor has taught me so much and brought me through some hellish times. My counselor is a gift! 7-To be sure I do some things for me and not always do for everybody else. To feed my artistic self so it doesn't starve. 8- To be aware of the many ways I can be kind and of help to others and to follow through. I tend to see needs and then see the resource and connect them so that there's a working system in place. I love to give to those in true need because their need distresses me and I would like all necessities to be met for all people. I would like to go beyond necessities also and into some wants. I do my best with what I have, which is plenty. Overall this is very satisfying and simply needs to be done.
