I did what suited me, didn't want pills or councellor, no idea what

CBT is.

I developed a circle of friends, some in a similar situation to chat with.

Each evening its a different friend. We share our experiences and gain from each others care and kindness.

I think you've found an excellent system of support Jo and I'm really pleased to read this, I never thought I'd read this and it makes me very happy!

I'm not sure how useful CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) is in the early stages of grief. I think it is more useful in the longer term.

I really could have done with some more counseling after my mothers' death. Fortunately I did get some after my Dads.

Hi Jo,

Most therapies on offer are not immediate, other than anti-depressants of course, and even these are not freely available as years ago. I do think Counselling should be available to everyone at a time they need it, but sadly that's not the case.

My husband died in a road accident. Which I saw.

My Gp immediately offered me pills, won't say exactly what my reply was. ...... . But it included

a firm no.

I was offered various counselling including Brake.

I also had a wonderful police officer who even attended the inquest eight months later and shielded me from unwanted attention. .....

How I would have managed without these friends both new and old in

similar circumstances I just do not know.......

I consider my self to be very fortunate.

Jo.

Yes they are hun.

I'm 100mg of sertraline tablets. I was put on 50mg in March 2018 for my depression as the lower dose antidepressants don't work for me. I'd only been on the 50mg for six months when I found out about my late dad's diagnosis, which sent me down hill so to speak, so I rang my doctors and I explained to my doctor about my late dad's , and I how it was affecting my depression, so he increased my dose to 100mg and I've been on the 100 mg ever since.

I was originally put on antidepressants for an unrelated reason which was the cause of my depression.
