A really good film Iris, these old films take me back to childhood and like you say a good excuse to sit. I hope you enjoyed the day yesterday with family x

My teacher took a horrible bunch of O Level students to see the film in a cinema, which involved a bus and trolleybus journey to distant Walthamstow. I'm afraid our criticisms were all nitpicking about every little detail which differed from the book. We loved the trolleybus though. In my old age I like the film much better. Glad you enjoyed it. xxx

It is a good film isn’t it. Rather like Alberta, I never really enjoyed films based on Charles Dickens’s work when young but I do now. As for sitting down for a bit, I’m afraid I don’t need much of an excuse to do that these days😀

Happy New Year to you x

I love Great Expectations - have read the book many times - people could still learn so much from Dicken's works, but as I discovered from my nephew, they don't really understand a lot of the concepts Dickens was writing about.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the film - it sounds like a real treat!

so important when you have to rest a lot, like many of us, that you find a good, a good book, to help those long hours. Just enjoyed watching on Netflix The Cider House Rules, very watchable.

Which version was it please? I watched a film of one of my favourite plays 'An Inspector calls' last night. Not exactly festive! 😂
