Zephyer valve
Hi Josie,
The NHS do perform endobronchial valve procedures. My husband is waiting for one. They stopped doing them during the pandemic but have just started again where we live in Leeds. There is a criteria that you have to meet but it’s basic stuff: a Body Mass Index over a certain number, no infections for a few months and you have to have done a Pulmonary Rehab course and of course have severe copd. A few people on here have had the procedure like Skischool and Hacienda.
You need to speak to your hospital consultant about them to see whether you qualify and whether they perform the procedure at your local hospital and if not ask to be referred to one that does. The procedure is often used instead of LVRS ( Lung Volume Reduction Surgery)as it is less invasive as the valves are put in by bronchoscopy.
Good Luck and take care
X
Greetings.
I had two valves inserted in my left lung two years ago, on the NHS, which doesn't charge for treatment. Private treatment and surgery are different situations.

They are available on the NHS. If they are the best corse of treatment. So im a bit confused by your statement. Unless your local servise has stopped providing them. Wich would be odd as they seem to be cost effective and get good results with a better quality of life for the recipient's. Were you hoping to get lung valves ?
I had two Procedures for Valve replacement,Free on the NHS. They worked for the first time , then stopped. The second didn't work as they couldn't retrieve the first Valves, still there somewhere. I would have them again if I was Stronger. C. xxx
