LVRS is the removal of the 'dead' lobe of a lung which enables the 'live' lobe to expand and contract and extract life giving oxygen. It is either done by keyhole sugery or major surgery.
I am on the list to have it done at the Royal Brompton subject to a further test
Hi yes I'm going through test for it now, I had it explained to me and I decided to go ahead with the op, anything that will help me. Have your nurse or GP explain the benefits of having the op then decide. Good luck please let us know how you get on. Take care and have a lovely day.😊 Bernadette xx
Hi friend of mine had this done years ago (she was 36 with no copd) as she had damage caused by repeated pneumonia. They took half a lung away. She was in hospital for around a week then was sore for a further 6 weeks. It took a good couple of months to recover fully but she said she felt so much healthier and was able to breathe a lot better. Good luck with yours. x
