Oxygen
The assessment usually consists of doing a 6-minute walk whilst your oxygen levels are checked. Very generally, if it is found to drop below acceptable levels (usually about 88%) then a home oxygen order is completed unless there are circumstances where it should not be, for example a patient who has high carbon dioxide levels. They will assess how much oxygen is needed to bring the levels up to a safe level for you. There is nothing to worry about.
Hi, had my assessment last Thursday and I dint need long term (16 hrs day ) Oxygen tho do need ambulatory oxygen for when I am out and about. The concentrator was delivered to me at home on Friday morning. !!!
It has helped a bit already, especially when climbing steps when without it I would gasping, but wasn't struggling as much as usual. So I am grateful.
It is taking time to get used to using it, and think I might buy a back pack to use with it to free me up a bit.
Let us know how you get on with the assessment!
Best wishes,
