Keith first thing I would check the machine ie batteries etc, next are your hands warm as if cold can give a bad reading. Have you calibrated your pulse oximeter with your doctor's one to confirm accuracy? Due to damage to my fingers I only get a good reading on two fingers! Have you tried different ones? 82% should mean you are very breathless normally the heart would be racing to try and give you oxygen but your pulse is 86. How is your breathing? You have given few details so it's very hard to suggest any advice except if you do feel very short of breath ring 111 for assistance and advice.

Hi, my oxygen readings regularly dip to 82% and below on exertion but I cannot up the flow rate because of CO2 retention. However, although my heart rate increases this does not leave me 'very breathless'. Many make the mistake of equating breathlessness and low oxygen readings but for lots of people this is not the case. We are all so different aren't we?
