Has anyone here taken up a flugelhorn, trumpet or cornet post COPD diagnosis?
If so, was it helpful?

There is someone on here who plays the flute and find it helpful so maybe the same would apply to a brass instrument too. Good luck to you maddy. xxx
Yes as Sassy says there is someone on here who plays the flute and is very good at it
Anything that exercises the lungs is good and because most of us use the wrong muscles when we breath im guessing you would have to breath in the correct way using the diaphragm to play an instrument ....Singing is good for us for the same reason ...Apart from the noise some of us make
The harmonica is supposed to be good for people with copd. There are even classes on utube. I have one myself. Silly me...it's still in the box..😁😁😁😁 Ruby🌹
I bet there has to be at least one person in your house that is glad it is still in it box Ruby hahaha.
My son once came home from school with a big Cello, it was nearly bigger than him. He said it was the only instrument left to take home and was clearly not very interested in learning it.
Unfortunately, my elderly Dad, who was very musical, was. Once he got hold of it, he would make such a racket, screeching away, he was driving us mad.
A quick word in son's ear about leaving it at school, soon put a stop to that!! xx
It's our lovely Mick who plays the flute - he seems to have gone AWOL. Please get in touch Mick and let us know all is well.

I play the recorder, not exactly the same instrument I know! I started 6months ago to help with breathing. I have bronchiectasis. After half an hour I can really tell I have been blowing. Not sure if it'smaking any ddifference but it'sgreat fun.
Roy Castle used to play the Trumpet.
