As a Scot exiled to Cornwall in 1965 (or was it 1966) I agree with that. I lived on The Lizard for about ten years and I couldn't tell you how many 'emmets' slammed their brakes on and tried to disappear into a hedge. Driving past Culdrose (HMS Seahawk) was scary in summer. Some holidaymakers were so intent on watching the aircraft taking off and landing that they didn't pay attention to their driving which sometimes resulted in them driving on the wrong side of the road!!!!!!
Still, what would Cornwall and Devon be without holidaymakers.
I love the West Country.

I miss it like mad. I used to love driving on Dartmoor and turning off on to seemingly endless roads only to end up in some fabulous little hamlet with a pub and a shop.
I used to work for the vehicle recovery firm at Ruan Minor, we spent a lot of time towing cars out of very hard Cornish Hedges. The score was always hedge1 cars nil
