If BLF produced some of our health information in non-English languages, would this be something of benefit to you?If so, Which language(s)?
AFRIKAANS (IN SOUTH AFRICA)
German
Spanish,
Scottish Gaelic.
If the research was conducted in written in a foreign language, it is expressed better than when translated as they say 'lost in translation' plus they treat Alpha 1 there.
French would enable me to show my doctor information from your site, as I live in France - and this would be a huge advantage in discussing symptoms, tests and treatments. However, the translation would have to be a bit better than the English in this survey, which asks if "this" would be helpful, to which the 2 possible responses make no sense. "Yes, I would"??? (Sorry to nitpick, but really ...)
Hi Nevermore
Thanks for your reply and thanks also for spotting my grammatical errors I have now edited the options.
Best wishes,
Ben
Sorry, I really didn't want to sound nasty - I'm just a fanatic about grammar And I should at least have mentioned what a great service it would be to provide some info in other languages. This is a terrific website!
You honestly didn't sound nasty at all
Thank you very much for the feedback on our site - we love to hear that you find it so useful!
Thanks for not being offended, Ben. Have a great day! Oh - and if you do go ahead with something along these lines, and if French is included, I'd be glad to participate in translating
French 😂
English only is all I need but I can understand that for some this could be helpfull.
No firstly it's English my language I can't make out my own mother language how can I get it transalated if I don't understand it
Not so much for me but my Polish friends.

But in all honesty WHY not have link to website translation tool.

Would look 👀 just like this translate.googleusercontent...
As a Scot living in England I don't need it BUT I think it a good idea to let others who need it in their own language to understand it better
Well done !!! A great idea !!!
Not to me personally, but typically thoughtful of what I'm gratefully finding to be a very helpful and friendly site.
I wonder how much it would cost for The British Lung Foundation to translate some of the articles into various foreign languages. Would this take money away from the various resources the BLF offers. JeffAjaxSmith has a very good point.
In some ways i understand those who ask, why translate the articles, in other countries most often one only finds articles available in the language of that country. On the other hand, in the U.K. very often articles are available in numerous languages. I would like to think people would volunteer to translate for free, I would do, but I don’t have the vocabulary or understanding in any language to explain, let alone translate, articles about lung conditions or respiratory problems.
I would like to see it in Greek as Greek /English doesn't translate very good via the internet browsers
British lung foundation
But it may be useful to those who don't speak or understand English
I'm sorry but why should it be necessary to go to the huge expense of translating into a vast number of languages. I lived in The Algarve for ten years and nothing was translated into any other language. You spoke Portuguese or employed a translator!
but I do think it is a good idea for those who need it.
Scottish Gaelic
I am sure it could be useful for people from non English speaking backgrounds. But seeing the different countries represented here the BLF it sure says a lot about the wonderful resource that it is. Congratulations! and thank you so much for your site.
I wouldn’t need it but I do commend BLF for thinking about the needs of others.
That said, I think it should be done online, where people can toggle between languages. People without home Computer s or devices could access the information via the local library services.
Spanish xxx
