Urinary incontinence - what does it mean to you?
Suffer from MS as well AS Moderate COPD,have assumed that MS is main cause of problem
Found it easy to manage ONCE my cough had been dealt with - before then NO HOPE
Agree! Also, can't face surgery so have agreed with my GP I will only go for the non-surgical option - eventually. In the meantime, have got used to getting up for the loo twice a night! Let's face it - men have the same problem as they get older too!
How was your cough dealt with Ruth462, my Dr said nothing could be done?
My husband finally came to the GP with me and said that not only was my life miserable but it was keeping him awake!! suddenly I learnt that such things as Cough Clinics existed and they looked to the cause of my cough ( untreated asthma) once the "habitual cough cycle" was broken I got my life back.
I cant believe you had the same thing as me. Years of horrible coughing then I was diagnosed with copd went to see a resp con and she diagnosed asthma. A course of oral steroids stopped the cough I thought I was the only one who had this. Now I still get the odd flair up but always a course of oral steroids puts in back under control. I still have copd and all that goes with it but at least the cough is more normal now
I have had incontinence since a vaginal hysterectomy, did not know there were tablets to help with this for men and women until I read an article in a recent bladder campaign urging people to speak to their GP. I spoke to the GP and once infection was ruled out I was given vesicar which works very well. Except it has side effects and I still need to get up in the night, so no the perfect solution but might suit some who do not want operations ect.
i suffer from quite the opposite,,urinary retention,,jimmy
Hi Jimmy, I to suffered with Urinary Retention For years it worried me Yes being a male and all the talk of Prostrate Cancer I went and got checked, However everything would be fine. I would go on very long car journeys and needing to plane for loo breaks No not for myself but for the rest of the Family. However I need to admit, when the urge did arrive then I needed to go yesterday else it was to late. After many many years. I was changed One of my inhalers had to go and Start a new Inhaler's. I asked my Pulmonary Nurse. "You know a month before I go on our annual holidays Then I want to change back on my former inhaler We laughed, you see Jimmy I am now going far more and again because of the Prostrate scare I got myself checked. I invited Our Pulmonary Nurse Specialist Educator to our Breathe Easy Meeting where one of our BLF ladies was there, Because it was our AGM. The nurse brought the subject up and Yes the reason was Spoke about. Yes I have kept away from the name of the inhalers Because We are not medically trained So not sure if the BLF like the Idea of us naming our Medication; however if its alright with the Mods and Admin let me know and yes I will return and name then. Just a second Jimmy a Loo break required lol. Bless
hi breathless, yes i know the name of the inhaler!!! the problem with me is before i had the prostrate op, i got a letter saying "my test indicate prostrate cancer" that was a big fright on its own, i had to wait some time for a biopsy. however it was not prostrate cancer, i then had the prostrate operation, then still went into complete urinary retention, then it materialized it was because of my ankylosing spondylitis [A.S. for short lol this is causing me extremely bad painful problems at this very moment] it seems now i have to wear this dammed catheter bag for the rest of my life,, i have an appoint with the urology in may [i think it is] so ill be asking them plenty questions, the letter back from resp, ward says re the appoint in may,,, the catheter must remain on,,,, well we shall see lol..
p.s they put me back on that inhaler once a day, then seritide 500 twice a day.
so whats the problem?, it's called multi-tasking and all women can do it, especially after a couple of days of asthma playing silly buggers, cough squirt, not fun really, most degrading but there is tena lady and big girl pants.
hi coughing is the real problem i i didn't cough I would not have a problem!
Can't stop now need the loo! lol
Acute when coughing Fine otherwise Have had prolapse operation two years ago. I think I've ruined it
Pelvic floor op. Twice. 1984 and 2012. Lifting kiddies into car seats did for it both times. Should I chance getting it done a third time?
The long periods of coughing have damaged my pelvic floor...and so no means of reversing the damage. Not just a trickle but a full bladerful at times...no fun.
Cornish Brian Yes I used to have similar many years ago And yes not only when coughing heavy but walking up inclines would bring the urge on and yes You really did need to go however lots of times it was a false alarm. We have spoke about it on other Forums and with our medical people. No one except perhaps one had any answers. A few weeks ago I was invited to do a Patient Feedback yes people completing their Pulmonary Rehab. I was sat there waiting for the next person when I noticed a Leaflet And yes it was for expectant mothers and Pelvic Floor Exercise was being spoke about. However there was something that reminded me of the old days Yes when straining like coughing, and Walking up an incline was all there No I am not allowed to talk of what it says again due to not being medically trained there fore not knowing what other Conditions we as individuals may have But yes there was a simple exercise for us to do in order to strengthen the Muscles. Bless
Previously experienced it. Had tvt operation, successful. Sometimes experience urgency still. But can now cough , sneeze, jump without problems
I find this problem has improved since Ive been on oxygen24/7 . Nice little bonus
I suffer from incontinence when I try to do to much then I get very breathless and struggle to move, I can pee then climb the stairs with oxygen and need to go again as soon as I get to the top of the stairs, it is very frustrating and can cause quite a bit of extra washing, fortunately my wife is very understanding and helps where and when she can. there is a lot of aids out there if you want to use them if only for peace of mind, I find that it is a great advantage
I knew mostly all ready on this.has used to be duty manager with care work..felt with lots different topics on all...I do now have my own proplem s.. don't knew its because had kids ?? No one seems to care about my bowel proplem??although thankfully seems to have charmed down..
Sometimes I come out of the loo and need to go straight back in again - especially after a coughing fit. Tena lady and big girl pants are my salvation.
Jimmyw wow thank you so much for your wonderful reply. Onecway I am extremely sorry for what you have been and still doing through your water works. However what I like the most Jimmy is yes your positive attitude. Yes it is so uplifting. On the top of my supporting people with COPD I also support people with all different conditions and wow wouldn't I like you there with me it is so wonderful please Jimmy don't you ever change.. if you ever want to chat just say so here and Inam notified in my email inbox and I promise never to be to busy to talk with you. I am not sure uf you have read any of my post however I talk of me having the 3 tools that help me Self Manage my life round my lung conditions and yes severe back pain. The tools are yes like you being Positive 2ndly the Right Attitude however the third is the most important yes having a Purpose in my life yes mine is what I do in supporting other's. I have a young friend in Scotland who had hit rock bottom I informed themnabout havingva purpose in life and wow the fantastic images they are taking up where they live. Yes I have helped and now theyvare good enough to be professionals, the thoughts of their black hole of depression they found themselves because of the conditions they had haveall vanished however every day they will inbox me saying thank you with me replying what for I don't take the photos they do. The thing is Jimmy its that purpose in life is what gets us out of our bed each day. You young man take care of yourself and please keep me updated knowing someone is always here for you. Bless you Jimmy. Hugs
I in three woman that have had children will suffer from this.
you should organize to see a specially trained nurse in that field you will learn a exercise to help you with it, which I think all woman and men should learn weather they have it or not.
Diabetes brought the rush and sometimes the too lateness. As long as remember to take my yucky tablets, I'm ok. Unless I get a cold, then I'm done for again. Tena and Always must make a packet from me.
Can't stand it,goes with being out of breath so much,I use a travel one a lot ,can't get there when I'm bad
