hi everyone

I’m a 65 yr old lady, I have A fib due I am told to hyperthyroidism. My thyroid had been what I called zapped but during covid I took A fib. After having my heart stopped and restarted I received no further medical support. After several A&E visits due to heart rate and still no appointment with cardiologist I paid to see one. He put me on medication that had opposite effects so I went on a waiting list a year and 5 months ago for an ablation. My local hospital have told me in march that my heart is damaged and I have congestion so now on fluid med as well as heart med. my GP had told no need for blood clotting meds even though I was told that I had to take them at 65. It’s all very confusing

I’m wondering what is my life expectancy?

Hello and welcome to the Forum, I am wondering if you might prefer to join the 'Atrial Fibrillation Support' Forum on HU, which is monitored on a daily basis by our Admin Team. I am sure many of the members there will offer their advice and support based upon their own experiences.

Having read through your message, it would appear you have received a lot of conflicting and confusing information. If you would like a chat to talk about your experiences or an overview of AF to help provide a better understanding of the condition, our Patient Services Team at the AF Association are always available to help. Please contact us via the Patient Helpline: 01789 867502 or info@afa.org.uk

Kind regards
