If Criteria for going on Ernesto is EF of 35 or less…do you come off it if your EF improves?

Hi

No, you'll stay on the Entresto. Even if your EF improves you still have HF, the meds have done their bit in improving your heart function and they'll continue to do so.

I think you mean Entresto rather than Ernesto, if you're googling it at all. Yes it is expensive, if you're in the UK obviously it will just cost the usual prescription amount (unless you're exempt) but pharmacies don't tend to keep/buy in large stocks of them so there can be a delay in getting it sometimes.

The main side effects that I'm aware of, is it can have a negative impact on your kidneys so you'll have blood tests a couple of weeks after you start it to check your kidney function, but that's no different to when you start an Ace/Arb medication. Another downside is it can reduce your blood pressure but often, once you've gotten used to the dosage, your blood pressure can improve.

Hope this helps
