Hi Sadie,

To my knowledge, depending on which nerves, are causing your pain, anything is possible. I have , as best as I can tell, from my symptoms and blood work, my medical records, polymyositis rheumatica and a severe spinal scoliosis, OA, degenerative disk disease, etc, etc.

I was actually doing well before the holidays, but in early Jan., fell down a flight of hardwood steps in my home. I have pain exactly , as you say, below the knees where they meet the shins to the point that the pain awakens me during the night. Knees, shins so stiff; hips too, that I feel like a doll made of wood myself.

It is painful to sit and to stand up, and vice versa; I thank my lucky stars that I am able to walk short distances on my own, drive and be 98% independent. When it comes down to it, the body is a big switchboard of tangled nerves, and I would guess your nerves are involved.

Have you tried physical therapy, chiropractic or anything like that? Ice or heat? An EMG probably could probably identify which nerves are causing pain, but is it really worth it? And then what? I find lidocaine cream or patches applied to area help. Also a chiropractor would probably know manipulations or exercises to help. And in the States, many are turning to CBD oils and medical marijuana for chronic musculoskeletal pain.

I think in my case it is the result of falling and injury, not resolved yet.

Good luck
