I'm a 23yr old female with visibly noticeable ... - Alopecia UK
I'm a 23yr old female with visibly noticeable hair thinning at my temples, itchy scalp and losing hair fast. Anyone else know what this is?
Im 64. Been losin my hair for about 4 yrs now. I had a crown of long lovely hair. Very Thick. Head constantly iching. Went to dermetologist and becuz my hair was long and thicker then most I was told that I was not losing hair and given some shampoo to wash with and sent home. That was 2yrs ago. Now my hair is really gotten thiner, and I ich really bad. Don't know what to do. Was told by beautician, that I have dry scalp. I take alot of meds/ cholestrol, blood pressure, diabetic, berrets desease and a couple others. I have used Nioxen to no avail. Im so depressed. Like who wants to lose their hair.
This does sound like Alopecia. Both my doctor, and the hairdressers where I finally got my wig, were both unaware that itching is one of the symptoms of the condition.
Make the first step and see your doctor, see what he/she says. The hairdressers, who are Alopecia 'specialists' offered me expensive lotions but if they worked they would be dispensed by pharmacies, not hairdressers. I opted for the wig which worked well for a while - people didn't know it was a wig. My hair grew back very thick as before and I thought that was that but it has been thinning all over the crown for months now. I've resorted to clipping my hair really short and now the wig looks as though I have a crash helmet on!
Talk to your doctor.
I'm older than you and the age requested but I had envolved on this situation some years ago. If there's anything I can help you, let me know. I also love to make new friends. I hope you are feeling better.
