At 36 I had a massive heart attack. 4 years later a stroke I recovered. My heart is enlarged. I had afib given pills and ablation. It worked for 3 years. My afib is back and I am waiting to be treated. I still play racquetball twice a week and lift weights 3 days. I am 61 now. I have worked out since I was 29. I try to treat my afib with Xanax. It seemed to work. Tonight my heart rate is 120 and I can't get it down.. thank you

Sorry to hear that your AF has returned. Hopefully you are feeling better by now. Good hydration and electrolyte drink and rest with feet up and slow, deep breathing techniques often helps.

120 is not particularly high but if your resting HR is normally low then can feel uncomfortable. I usually just sat out such episodes and my HR did come down eventually but if you are worried then do ring your GP today and ask for advice or if you have an arrhythmia clinic then arrhythmia nurse?

Hi, Given the drug you are taking I assume you must be in th US or otherwise having it as a private prescription or otherwise? From what I read it's not really appropriate for controlling Afib, unless you have self diagnosed to say your fast heart rate is anxiety related.Given your history I think you should referral yourself asap to a medical practitioner for check ups.

On the plus side your exercise regime is exemplary in terms of self help to improve your cardiovascular system. Just one comment on this though the benchmarks do change with age!

Hope you can get it sorted.
