Morning from the old lady 4am wee club!I have a slow heart rate. Recently had a diagnosis of paroxysmal AF from a 24hr holter.

My rate ranges from 38 to 125 +. My general resting is anywhere from 48 to 52.

ECG at A and E always shows as normal.sinus.

Waiting for a cardiology appointment.

Still waiting for some treatment for the AF. Meanwhile I continue to be symptomatic every day. Short of breath with increased heart rate , in movement, palpitations, light headed, fatigued every flipping day after " exerting " myself the day before.

I'm currently on amended duties from work, as I'm not allowed to drive works vehicles.

I am so fed up, I used to work full time( plus do Overtime)

and do all the grown up shizzle...cos ya know...I married a boy!

Terrified about what this diagnosis may mean for me , both work wise and general life stuff.

It sounds like you may have low rate AF as I do but mine was persistent and now permanent and doesn't stop me doing most of the things I wanted to do - though maybe a little slower. I am nearly 80 and still go to the gym at least 4 times a week - though a recent positive covid 19 test will stop that for a few days. the only medication I am on is an anticoagulant as the beta blockers, calcium channel blockers and any rate control medication took my heart rate down as low as 36 on resting and made me feel worse than the AF ever did so eventually came off all and just kept on the anticoagulant - I am not saying this may be the same for you this is just my experience. If you can then ask to be referred to an electrophysiologist (EP) as he is the expert in AF. If you are able you may try to see a consultant privately int he first instance and then get put on their NHS list for tests and scans (as these can be expensive) an initial consultation will cost between £150 and £300.
