Seeking reassurance from those of you who are ahead of me. Generally I'm feeling fine. I've had a couple of brief migraine auras but thanks to the factsheets I didn't feel alarmed. However, during the course of the week my pulse rate has become faster each day and reached 119 today. No sign of arrhythmia but I am wondering why the bisoprolol is not keeping my pulse in check. I have tried to obey the rules about doing as little as possible but I'm not good at being inactive and anyway my pulse is still high even when resting. Any advice much appreciated.

One week post ablation
I haven't had an ablation but have seen lots of people mention a higher pulse rate and it seems logical as your heart has been irritated and is also trying to heal the trauma of ablation so I don't think you should worry= others will advise!
not really a help I had ablation in June still having afib
Sorry to hear that. You must be disappointed. Have you had your review appointment yet?
Me too, 4 known incidents of AF since second ablation in jun.
that’s not bad mine are every week at best
I’m sorry, that is awful. Are you back on the meds or did you never come off them? What is their next course of action I assume you have spoken with someone about your reoccurrence? I really hope it settles down for you as we all know the massively uncomfortable feeling of an AF episode if pulse is racing over 150. Big hug from me !
i had 4th ablation 5 months ago. After the first & second I had a lot of auras starting the morning after the 1st one but without the migraine. Heart rate went as high as 140+ so had further ablations + about 4 cardioversions. Bisoporol didn't work for me so cardiologist changed meds (Digoxin & Diltiazam) but, not everyone can tolerate these. Now off all meds. It really does take time to recover I phoned my cardio nurse or the cardiologist secretary when I had concerns & was often fitted into the hospital clinic as an emergency
Good to hear you have finally managed to get off all the meds. I'm really hoping to banish bisoprolol from my life but it seems I need to hang on to it until things have settled a bit.
yes, the cardiologist will advise when/if meds can be stopped or need changing as was the case with me. Bisop made me feel quite poorly despite low dose - caused lot ectopics etc though he said it was the drug prescribed for most of his patients. Let us know how you get on with your recovery
I had my ablation in March and thankfully my recovery has been textbook; however I have found that my pulse rate will rise quicker than it did before but it drops back even if I am doing a long brisk walk. Try not to stress over it and gently increase any exercise over time.
I had an ablation in December 2021
My pulse was 120bpm resting after
the procedure
I was booked in for cardioversion.
But the doctor changed my medication to sotalol from bisoprolol and flecainide
And it corrected it overnight to around 65bpm so did not need the cardioversion
And so far has been no problem
Over a period of nearly ten years, it took four ablations and five cardioversions … and still on metoprolol and flecainide to get me staying in nsr for months at a time. Plus gone tea-total, eat tiny meals, and do daily yoga/meditation/morning prayer to reduce anxiety. Patience and persistence. It feels more life-threatening than it is. But always stay on the anticoagulant.
Hi Suze, I had an ablation 13/7 and a few days afterwards my resting pulse was circa 57 instead of 45 previously. I was on 1.25 bisop and also Amiodarone. Stopped Amiodarone 20/8 and planning to stop bisoprolol end Sept.
So far 🤞🏻No AF, no palpitations….nothing. Still resting pulse of 57.
PS 1 week on, I was back playing golf and two weeks was mountain biking gently
Well done for getting back to your activities so quickly. Seems like you've had a great result from the ablation. Let me know how you get on with stopping the bisoprolol, I'm very keen to get off it.
I'm 2 weeks post ablation - pretty much constant mild AFib since. HR is up from 55-60bpm to 75-80bpm. EP is not concerned and is very confident that the procedure will be successful
I had an ablation a year ago. I had migraine auras and felt absolutely whacked for the first three months or so. It has taken pretty well the first year to feel 'normal' but I am still getting light attacks of af when I have a virus. My pulse rate went from 50 to around 60 and has stayed put. The hike up seems a normal occurence.
You seem to be doing well but I would suggest rest rest as much as possible even if you don't really want to!
Best of luck
I'm feeling really tired today so I will take your advice and try to rest more.
