What side to sleep on with AF

I sleep on my left side every night. When I have had AF in the night it always seems to be when I turn over on my right side. Does anyone know why this would happen.

I'm wondering if this is because lying on the right side can start acid reflux which in itself can promote arrhythmias in those susceptible.

Yes Jalia you might be right, I didn't think of that.

I have always thought that this was merely that one noticed more when pressure on the heart from other organs in the area increases awareness. For some it is one side and for others the opposite so there can be no physiological reason for it. (My personal observations from 15 years of reading this forum.)

I have always read sleeping on your right side is best if you have afib.

From Dr. Google "A left lateral position increases the dimensions of the left atrium and the right pulmonary veins...(increasing) myocardial stress..." i.e again sleep on your right side.

Personally, I usually sleep on my left side because that is often better for GERD which is one of my afib triggers. YMMV.
