How to adjust Apixaban back to Uk time

Hi, I've just returned from Barbados (4hours -GMT) and before going I adjusted the time for taking the Apixaban by half an hour forward for a few days before I went. I know it sounds a daft question but do I now just adjust it the same way but going back by half an hour or so or is it ok to adjust by an hour today, an hour tomorrow etc until I'm back on my usual time for taking it (8 a.m.).

Clear as mud lol.

I wouldn’t even be that precise as I don’t think it makes that much difference if it’s a couple of hours. What you don’t want to do is take both doses within 6 hours so I tend to always err on the side of caution and extend the time between doses rather than shorten.

Thanks. I was a bit more cautious about shortening than extending but as you say 2 hours or so probably would be ok?

To be honest Barbadosgirl, if Apixaban dosage times were that critical I might be pushing up daisies by now! I'm the world's worst time keeper when it comes to medication doses and even though I set an alarm for my Apixaban, I often get distracted and remember a couple of hours later that I haven't taken it yet. Obviously a double dose is a really bad idea but your way sounds absolutely fine to me! 👍

I to take mine at various times give or take a few hours and I'm also still alive and kicking 🙂 I have so many tabs to take each day and I really can't worry that much about exact timing.

I think 2 hrs is the max recommended gap either way. If I ever forget I usually increase or decrease the gap by one hour untilI am back to my normal time.

Thank you for all your helpful comments. I usually take mine on the dot, so maybe should relax a bit :)

I can take my morning on at 07.00 go out to work and not take my night time one until 21.00 or later with no side effects that I am aware of. I know you are supposed to take them twice a day at regular (12hr) intervals; I never have yet! I am still alive. I took part in the clinical trials for Apixaban years ago before it was approved by NICE; at no time during the 18month trial period did they ever ask me how regularly I took them and at what intervals.

Hi Sweetie! I wish I could help you, but with me I take my two pills at various times (well perhaps this may help after all!) I take mine after breakfast, which varies from 8-10 am! And my bedtime one, just whenever I go to bed (so between 10-11:30 pm) 😊😊

I take Apixaban at 8am and 8pm. I was told when I started that if I forgot a dose it was OK to take it up to 4 hrs later. But later than that, I should skip that dose and take the next one as usual. So if I forget the evening dose and remember at bedtime I take it then. So coming back you could just take it 4 hrs late and then carry on as normal. I think....🤔
