I am new to this. What is PIP. I am on propranolol ER 120mg

Pill in Pocket - ie a a pill taken as and when you need it. Being in permanent AF I have never had this. Am sure there will be someone along soon who can tell you more about it from experience.

I’m not medically trained but PiP treatment can be quite a successful way of treating paroxysmal AF, ie the type of AF which comes or goes without warning or for no obvious reason. Generally, it involves taking a high dose of a rhythm control drug such as Flecainide within 20 minutes of an episode starting and depending on the individual’s condition, sinus rhythm can return but it really needs to be assessed for suitability by a specialist. Very often for someone who has had one or more ablations, it can be very effective.

Beta blockers such as propranolol which are used to control heart rate can also be prescribed as a PiP but again, it needs specialist involvement. If you type PiP in the search box top right of this page, you will see lots of posts about Pill in the Pocket treatment…..
