Generally speaking drugs are maintained for a period post ablation but may well be reduced and eventually stopped if all goes well. I was off all except warfarin for 10 years before another arrhythmia arrived.
I went off Diltiazem 3m after my ablation, which was successful
I stopped Diltiazem shortly before recent ablation. Stopped Flecainide 60 days after ablation. Now, only take Apixaban. That will be stopped in 5 months or so ...... Then, that's it! No more meds.
My beta blockers ( bisoprolol and dilitiazem) and flecainide were stopped the day after my second ablation, I have only kept on my anticoagulant apixoban and am in no hurry to stop that
Yes diltiazem. One of the aims of my ablation was to get off such drugs. Been off almost 3 years now.
Interesting - I’m the opposite! I’ve been on metoprolol since 2010 and Apixaban since 2015 and have remained on them despite ablations in 2015 and 2016. To be fair I had significant bouts of AF after both procedures until all relatively calmed down about six months after the second ablation. My PAF has returned in the last 18 months and as far as I’m concerned I’ve accepted I’m likely to be on them, or similar, for life. Fortunately I’ve never been discharged and am in regular touch with the arrhythmia nurse and EP when necessary.
