I was diagnosed with paf 2019, was going along the route of cardioversion but suddenly went into NSR the week before ! (Lasted approx a week). Hospital started looking at further tests for possible paroxysmal rather than persistent. Now back in AF, currently on 5th week! COVID also made it hard work too!Going round in circles ! Anyone had similar?

Paf or paroxysmal ?
I think there are definition problems here as PAF is usually used for paroxysmal AF and persistent or permanent written in full. For the record paroxysmal AF is usually said to be any AF which self corrects within 7 days. Persistent lasts longer and or needs to be terminated by drugs or cardioversion (DCCV). Permament merely means that both doctor and patient agree that no further attempt to obtain normal sinus rhythm (NSR) are appropriate.
Sounds like yours is persistent . What drugs are you on?
In May this year, when I reported that my heartbeat had become erratic for a few days, my GP (by phone) told me to increase my Bisoprolol from 2.5mg to 5.0 daily -- no discussion about cardioversion or ablation. (I'm 73.) Since then, I would say I have been in permanent AF. In some ways, despite feeling tired and lightheaded at times, I prefer this more stable state to the paroxysmal AF condition. (I take an anti-coagulant daily.)
