My cardiologist told me to stop sotalol that I had been taking for about a year... I asked if I needed to taper dose, he said no. Bad react
I am surprised your cardiologist said you could suddenly stop sotolol. It is a betablocker with other properties. With all betablockers you usually come off them gradually. My cardiologist gave me a plan over a week and made sure I agreed to follow the plan to the letter.
I'm so sorry to read this. I think you should probably get yourself to A&E or an emergency room. Not all doctors listen or pay much attention to what their patients are asking and I guess you have encountered one of the bad ones of the bunch. Please go to the emergency room/A&E and let us know how you're doing.
Thank you! I did go to emergency department on Saturday at 5 am.... 3 IV’s, iv cardizem, then cardioversion.... was sent home on amiodorone and cardiazem.... heart rate is ok at rest... but with minimal exertion, races... in
I knew Sotolol was causing severe side effects but all the warnings I read said to never quit cold turkey for fear of heart attack etc.
One cardiologist said I had to stay on it regardless of any side effects. I quit seeing him immediately. Told my GP I needed a different one. That cardiologist said to just take myself off it . I went off it very carefully over one month’s time and didn’t use any other pill to replace it. All went well.
That’s why I only take Xarelto now.
