ZioXT stayed on 15 low-activity minutes. Reattached, & it fell off. The FDA needs to ban this product, unless customer chooses own tape.

ZioXT was completely useless for me--unless STRONGER tape will work? Hate to use duct tape, as one Commenter did, since it will hurt when I remove it in 2 weeks. But I have medical tape to try--IF it seems extra sticky. The hospital worker carefully prepped my skin, applied the Zio & rubbed a minute. She said one end wasn't sticking very well--and it came loose 15 minutes later. I had 2 hours of errands to run before going home, so just kept going. At home I notified Zio, and they said to re-stick it, pressing for 5 minutes. I said shouldn't I use alcohol first to make sure very clean, and she said it wasn't important, but okay. I re-cleaned the area with alcohol, let it dry, set the timer for 5 min, and rubbed it the whole time. 5 minutes later, when I was barely moving around, the whole thing fell off. The 2 discs of glue are only 3/8" diameter, and the tape is not sticky at all!! This is a fraud, and we should all report it to the FDA. (Hurry, in case Trump & co. decide we don't need the FDA)

Guess it’s difficult to get the balance of “stickyness” right to suit everyone. Too strong, blooming painful to remove! Hope you manage to get it sorted....

Good point. I fastened mine on, hopefully for the last time, with strips of medical tape across the top and bottom. Maybe I got a defective unit, so will let the hospital know to see if there's been other complaints.

I had one that stayed on and one that fell off.

I had the exact same experience as you. After several weeks of waiting for insurance to cover it since it was fairly new at the time, I was fitted and assured that it would stay put for several weeks. I made sure to get out on the bike and push hard to try to throw ectopics, but on the second day the sweat made it melt and it slipped entirely off. I was unable to reaffix it. And everyone felt like I had enough data to go by. Unfortunately I wasn't able to catch any of my stronger runs of premature contractions. And I neglected to take any notes thinking I would get a full report for all erroneous beats. This wasn't the case either you get generalizations in the summary about being above or below a certain threshold but no absolute numbers in my case. Apparently you only get a specific diagnosis if you record the symptomatic times within which you want the analysis to be applied. I would have preferred a full holter to the ease of the Zio patch. But I still think it's a good idea, just a little rough around the edges. There is an alternate version that Sanjay Gupta talks about in his YouTube vlog

Yes, Zio is misleading about HOW the heartbeats are recorded & reported. They say that frequent button-pushing isn't necessary, because the unit is constantly recording. They're also vague about how long you need to wear it to get a true picture. They act as if the unit doesn't HAVE to be in perfect contact with the body--and after all, if you press your arms together, the unit will probably be off your body for a few seconds? But that isn't an accurate read. I probably do not have a heart disorder that's causing my dizziness, and so because the tape I added will probably come loose in the shower, I'm just going to remove it, shower QUICKLY, avoid lotion afterwards & rub with alcohol, dry,--and use new strips of "Curad Tear-to-Fit clear tape." And make a note in Zio diary. Tape (even medical tape) is itchy for many of us--I'll try using shorter strips.

Re Dr. Gupta's 2018 findings about the Apple Watch app: "Apple's new app is a much simpler single-lead ECG with limited capabilities. It won't help detect most heart rhythm abnormalities or worsening heart failure. It also won't reliably detect the electrical changes associated with a heart attack." madison.com/business/invest... I think Zio's monitoring CLOSE TO THE HEART is more useful than monitoring an artery at the wrist.
