Hi all was diagnosed with atrial tachycardia a few days ago. Not sure if this is the appropriate forum... is this similar to AF?
Newbie!: Hi all was diagnosed with... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Newbie!
Close enough. Welcome. I 've just had an ablation for atrial tachycardia (three previous for AF) so common ground here.
Oh ok hope they were successful!
I had EPS on Thursday unfortunately unable to ablate at the time so got to go back in a couple of months. Something to do with needing a different mapping system. Do you know if the recovery process is different for an ablation. Feeling pretty tired just from the study!!
We have a "Recovering From Ablation" fact sheet on AF Association website under patient resources. Feels the same to me. It takes three to six months for full recovery.
The top centres of excellence have the latest state of the art mapping system.
If your hospital says they need to get a different mapping system it is at least a step in the right direction.
There is some amazing 3D mapping systems now being used they enable to doctors to pinpoint much more accurately the paths of your arrhythmias.
My last ablation was for Atrial Tachycardia and my EP is of the opinion that AT is much easier to treat than Atrial Fibrillation.

Hiya, yes that’s what I had for 18 years, horrid, good news though had ablation in January and not had an episode since after having about three a week in the end. Off all tablets too, good luck x
Oh ok!! I’m a community mental health nurse so may take your advice! Only taking a week off this time around but it was only eps.
Hi, can I ask how you were diagnosed with Atrial Tachycardia. I was told I also have that, but my physician doesn't see to think it is anything to worry about.
Hi Doreen I had an electrophysiology study on Thursday.. diagnosed from that. It’s been pretty debilitating effecting my work etc and got worse over past 6 months.. so they are keen to ablate the area. If it’s affecting your day to day life I would request interventions if I were you!
Thank you for your reply, my cardiologist wants me to have the linq cardiac monitor which is implanted in your chest to diagnose if I have AFib. I don't want to do that, because there are negatives. He told me it could migrate and then they would have to go in a surgically remove it...also the nurse told me that it develops scar tissue and it is difficult to remove, it's major surgery. I am going to another cardiologist who specializes in arrhythmia to find out another option for detecting A Fib. I believe he would conduct the kind of study you had. Would you tell me what the study comprises of? When I wore the 30 day monitor, it detected Atrial Tachycardia which is very upsetting to me, and only occurs while at rest. My current cardiologist doesn't consider that to be a treatable condition, hence another reason for getting a second opinion. Thank you so much for all your help, and I hope you are feeling better soon...I know a few people who have had ablations of late, and they both said, there is nothing to it, and they feel so much better. Thanks again for your help.
How are you now Mish-da? I developed atrial tachycardia after my VT ablation 5 months ago and now taking amiodarone 200mg and 2.5mg bisoprolol but still getting intermittent episodes. Are you on any medications?
Hi Kitzabella I’m still waiting for the appointment to come though for ablation but have various health issues. Not on any medication for it. My cardiologist said no as I’m on some powerful meds for my GPA vasculitis & have been having horrible side effects from these so putting up with heart problems for now. Really don’t want any more meds if I can help it.. on more that my grandma!!
