I had my appointment today, they did ECG and BP. ECG was normal and all ok. BP was a bit high 150/87
She asked a lot of questions and listened to my answers without interruption. My husband was with me and thought her to be very thorough. She asked several times how aware I was of my heart and I wasn't able to tell her definitively as I'm not really aware of it. She didn't seem impressed I'd been prescribed NOAC and seems hopeful I can come off it.
She looked at my records from the night I had in A&E and from the ECG they took she wasn't convinced I was in AFib - it looked a normal rhythm to her.
Upshot is she has booked me for a 24 hr BP monitor and 2 week ECG monitor so she can see what's what.
She wasn't able to say why I had fast heart for long periods on 3 occasions and quite rightly wouldn't speculate.
Thanks Kelly. I'll be interested to see what the monitor says/shows. She explained the ECG to me and said I may have a 'regular irregular' heartbeat. She drew a diagram to explain the ectopics and explained how the heart fills then relaxes to pump out and said if there is an ectopic the next beat is delayed so my watch is showing a fast beat then a slow beat. She didn't seem very keen on the reliability of gadgets and much preferred the method suggested by many on here of feeling your neck pulse. Take care x
Sounds like your cardio is very practical, I investigate the actual issue rather than work to an "average" diagnosis and chuck pills at you and hope it fixes The problem. She sounds good to me.
Definitely. She put my mind at ease and is keen to do a proper investigation. She was very much into lifestyle rather than medication where possible, which I like. Just need to wait for a monitor to be free. They thought about a week. 😁
