Over last month experienced heart palpitations w squeezing pain. Had clear holter (no surprise because it stopped for those 24 hrs) clear echo. However I had severe pain during the echo because of palpitations w squeezing pain multiple times because I was laying on my left side during the procedure. (I have palp at night in same direction) Despite the normal eresults this scared me enough to cold turkey quit caffeine. Two days after quitting no more palpitations but the worst vertigo when standing. Going to cardiologist in a few days. Worried and scared. Is this dizziness going to ever stop and has anyone experienced this? Thx

I wonder if now that you've stopped having caffeine, whether you're not drinking as much fluid as usual? Lack of fluids can cause blood pressure to drop and perhaps this could be the cause of your dizzy spells. I'd make sure I drank plenty of water to see if that helped, this tip was given to me by a nurse when I was once in hospital.

When I stand now, I do it more slowly and when getting up in the morning I sit on the side of the bed for a short while before standing. So annoying as they're the sort of things I think old people have to do, not me a nifty 66!

A lot of members of this forum, including myself, never sleep on our left side because it can trigger our AF. I hope your cardiologist can help explain the squeezing pain you're getting.

Thanks Jean... yes I have amped up the liquids (per my Doctor too) and especially water. Still dizzy and scared after 2 wks of this. I really hope cardiologist can help me this week.

It's hard to win with a holter monitor because if something shows up it may not be a good thing and if nothing shows up because nothing happens the day you have the holter it is unsatisfactory, A 7 day session with no irregularities is extra tedious. They happen the day after you hand it back usually. Very annoying. Great to have a clear echo though.

As Jean says, it would be handy if your cardiologist can explain the pain and the dizziness.

Have you tried redbush / rooibos tea? It is naturally caffeine free.
